Its WAY too early in the process for this. He has time to sift through the muck and let things play out. Let those guys interview for the ND HC position. We don't have to name coordinators until after the bowl game if need be.

The RB coach he contacted was from OSU.

Orgeron says they weren't playing the run in the 4-3, just basic coverage and then he talked to Lane Kiffin, who said: 'Coach, you know you're playing the same thing all the time?' He said it sparked after. Says the 3-4 and zero blitz has been working fantastic for the defense and the "players love it."

"Defense looks better than they ever were last year"
"We got to get betta, thas on me"
"Best week of practice I've seen"
"We've fixed the running game"
"We've fixed the passing game"
"We've fixed the play calling"
"We've fixed the delay in getting plays in"
"We're getting rid of the check with me offense"

Ed Orgeron is a liar when it comes to coach speak. There's acceptable coach speak and stretching the truth, then there is blatantly lying where nobody is buying it. I wouldn't be surprised if he's full of it when he said this too.

All right. I'm out

FTR, huge fan of the hire. Excited to see Kelly whip this program into a consistent contender.

I don't understand why this keeps coming up. Has something definitively come out about him meddling or is this just poor assumption?

Ed decided he wanted to go to a 4-3 when he brought in Pelini, which became a 4-2-5 most of that season and this one. When he mentioned attacking defense, he was referring to the 4 linemen (more pass rush which you've heard him mention time and time again). When we began to see 3-4 against Bama and Ojulari drop in coverage, that was not Ed O.

That’s not completely accurate what he said about Campbell, he has one source saying there is mutual interest there.

There is also some talk about Fickell wanting to bring his strength coach with him wherever he goes which complicates things for ND.

It would actually be nice to have them in place before ESD.

These kids will want to know who their coordinators are.

Reality is the 22' staff won't be long term. It will be patchwork. Don't expect miracles in 1 year.

If ND hires Freeman as their HC.. that’s pretty freaking insane.

Not going to argue with this statement. However, Freeman is the people's choice and the players' choice up there. It would be Freeman's first head coaching job.

Elston is still weighing his options. Might stay if named DC.

That's curious because Elston has been with Kelly at each stop since the Central Michigan days.

This would hurt, especially if we keep Quinn.

Quinn and Elston have been attached to Kelly's hip for a LONG time. Elston is really important and by far the better of the 2.
I'll tell you one thing ND fans want us to take Quinn. That tells me I don't want Quinn. I really think Kelly should keep Davis.

No way a deal gets blown up due to a strength coach...

I remember the guys on Saban's new LSU staff - Fisher, Muschamp, Smart, Tucker. I don't remember any of the old MSU guys that didn't follow him. I think I'm ok letting BK name a new staff.

Muschamp and Smart were not on Saban's initial coaching staff. Boom came on board in 2001 as LB coach and Smart in 2004.

LSU 2000 coaching staff is as follows:

Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks-Jimbo Fisher
Running Backs/Special Teams Coordinator-Michael Haywood
Offensive Line-Rick Trickett
Wide Receivers-Stan Hixon
Tight Ends-Derek Dooley
Defensive Coordinator-Phil Elmassian
Linebackers-Sal Sunseri
Defensive Line-Pete Jenkins
Defensive Backs- Mel Tucker
Graduate Assistant -Freddie Kitchens
Graduate Assistant - Adam Gase

From the way this looks, unlike the OU situation where Riley got all the staff he wanted, these coaches had no clue and were thrust into major life decisions in short order.

Well OU staff didn’t want anything to do with the SEC. ND staff seems to not want this smoke either.

Lebby would be a grandslam as an OC. OU folks are talking about him but we should make a big money move. Houston DC would be great.

Are these OSU DC rumors? I haven't seen much at all on OSU coaching changes honestly. They need to happen and it may be a complete overhaul
