Why in gods name would he leave the number 1 NIL and richest program to go to a school that has a former DC head coach and basically runs the defense.

What am I missing here?

There's been rumblings that Day may retire after the season ends, maybe there's something crazy going on there.

Wasn't he getting death threats and stuff after losing to Michigan? I'd laugh if he told Ohio state to f off.

Better chance Day goes to the NFL

I think his wife is from OK and he coached at OK State

But Venables won’t make 2026

Career pivot into broadcasting more than likely.

I don’t see much demand for Day in broadcasting. I could see him taking a year off and then getting a lower pressure job.

Just read he got divorced in 2020 and his new finance is from outside OKC. Met her while at Ok State

He would have more money retiring at 45 than the average guy has retiring at 65

Nobody on Sooner Scoop believes it, they're just hoping.

Bump

Sources online saying this will be announced tomorrow. Even Josh Pate today said he heard it’s happening

Right after winning a title too

That job comes with more stress than we could ever imagine. Sure the pay is good, but it’s not inconceivable that a man might get to the point and say frick this, not worth it, I’ve got enough money already

That’s a stupid move unless he’s looking to take over when Venables is fired. It took Knowles a good year and a half to turn OSU’s defense around, and he probably had more talent to work with there starting out. Venables won’t survive with fewer than at least 8 wins next year. It may take 9 as rough as it’s been.

Would it surprise anyone if Day left college and got an NFL job?

Again, it would surprise me to see a lot more coaches leaving this circus. Who seriously wants to beg 17 year old kids to come to your school just to leave a year later?

Borderline demeaning.

On the flip side, what other league would give you the ability to buy out nearly any player you want to compete every year and pay you 10-15 plus mil a year to do so

NFL you actually have to coach and develop talent. To some coaches that’s the more exhausting task

Norman, OK, is a much better place to live than is Columbus, OH.
