the Lane Kiffin documentary alluded to Lane not being able to balance the new FAU job and the playoffs. so Saban let him off the hook early.

Lane was coming to LSu to be OC with Oberon. Saban didn’t want so he made arrangements for him to take the FaU job. Lane was probably a little salty after that and Saban released him from his duties.

Lane was going to be LSU OC for ED O. Saban didn’t like that so he told Sexton to find him a hc gig. Jimmy did and the rest is history.
