People need to back and look at the response of this board when a 28-21 coach from Oklahoma state was hired.
What is the purpose of firing BK just to go hire a younger version of him?

First of all, he makes $9M which means you’d be paying him more than Kelly after having bought out the latter for $50M
Would be terrible optics for Verge et al imo. There’s absolutely nothing on Drink’s resume’ that’s even close to the guy you had. That alone is a reason to not go this direction.
They’ll either pay Drink-level money for a real perceived upgrade, like Kiffin, Heupel, etc
Or they’ll go for value with unproven candidates like Sumrall, Brady, etc imo

I agree. He's not a bad coach but he's going to require a megadeal that ensures we are stuck with him a long time.
I didn't see "fit" as that big of a deal pre-BK, but it does matter and Drink is not going to fit in Louisiana.

He beat a top 15 Tennessee team that finished the season ranked #16 and he beat a #7 Ohio State team in the Cotton Bowl with Missouri.
The disingenuous part is trying to discount good wins because Tennessee finished 4-4 in the SEC that year even though they were 9-4 overall on the season and discounting a win over a top 10 Ohio State because “they didn’t really want to be there”.
He’s had big wins at Mizzou. People are just choosing to ignore them.

So basically his biggest wins in 6 years are a team with their 3rd or 4th string quarterback and a 9-4 team.
And we're going to pay this dude a top 5 salary?

Absolutely not. He’s too expensive for what he brings, but he’s not a shitty coach like some are making him out to be.

Ohio State won a national championship with a 3rd string qb

Drinkwitz said the following, in part, Tuesday on "Tiger Talk":
"I talked about this at SEC Media Days. We gotta get out of this ‘Oh man, it’s playoffs or bust.' Yes, again, we’re shooting for the moon. We’re going to put our whole self into that, but only 12 teams make the playoff and we put ourselves in position in November to be there. Didn’t get it done. I got that, but if the season only counts for 12 football teams, and we got 127 D1 football teams, that math’s not gonna math very well. That math's not going to math very well, okay? Football is more than just the playoff potential. And again, we were there. We were there. We didn't get it done, but you know, there's a whole heck of a lot to be proud of. There's a whole heck of a lot to play for."
Sounds like the 11th best paid coach in the country doesn’t think the playoffs are the goal. He is right at Missouri.

I’m done with LSU football if we fire Brian Kelly to hire a worse version of BK

He was a bit better than the guy they played vs Mizzou.

Not a bad coach but culturally misaligned with Louisiana
