Cons against Eli:

Not an expert on Offense, CEO type, similar to BK, Dorky

Pros:

Probably would have beaten OM and Vandy this year at least ?

Still would much rather us go a different route

Just today there’s a clip of him whining about playoff or bust expectations.

He’s at his station at Mizzou. He’d get eaten alive here.

I'll support whomever LSU hires until he gives me reason not to. But I might not be excited about it, ie Drinkwitz.

He still wouldn’t be my first option for LSU but he would be a really good consolation prize

It reminds me of the Les Miles hire.

Not saying Drink reminds me of Les Miles

It’s not that he’s a bad coach… he just has such a punchable face

Well according to you let’s just hire someone who hasn’t won a big game. Mediocrity at its best.

He’s not. The issue right now is there’s a loud portion of the fan base that will consider anyone other than Kiffin or Saban as a “bad” hire. There are tiers, and Drink would fall into the solid one
whenever a coach gets fired, fans want a clear “upgrade” which drink would not be from Kelly but doesn’t mean he’s a bad hire either

Pretty sure he beat Tenn in 2023 who was ranked 13th at the time

At the time?

That TN team finished 4-4 in conference.

That is his best SEC win. Beating a .500 Tennessee team in Columbia.

becasue he's sitting at $9MM and we'd have to bump him significantly to get him. Is he worth $3MM-$5MM more than the next level coach (tulane guy/dilly/etc)?

Too expensive

He's an "offensive guy" but his offenses are usually the weak link of their teams

He's dorky, won't excite the fanbase or fit in well. Also, kind of gimmicky.

Bad vs good teams, usually feasts on weak schedules.

Bad vs good teams

10/11/25 lost by a field goal to #4 Bama
11/16/24 lost by 4 to #15 South Carolina who was surging and looked like on of the better teams in the country
11/4/23 lost by 9 to #6 Georgia
10/7/23 lost 49-39 to eventual heisman winner and LSU but the game was in the balance with minutes to go in the 4th

Yes, he lost all those games and you’d like to see them pick a couple of those off, but he’s playing better teams with better rosters down to the wire. The whole he’s “bad against good teams” is severely overstated.

And again, Drink is nowhere near my top choice, but he’s LEVELING UP a mizzou program that should be getting worse in the current construction of college football. Missouri could EASILY be Arkansas or Kentucky and they’ve arguably been better than LSU over the last several seasons

I think Missouri is perfect for him. He can win the games he is supposed to, lose to the more talented teams, and that fan base will be content.

I just do not see him handling the pressure cooker, that LSU is, well. I think it would eat him alive.

I guess my problem would be the fact that we'd be giving a megadeal to a dude who has a .620 win percentage at Mizzou, despite some pretty bad schedules.

His best win at Mizzou is arguably 9-4 Tennessee in 2022.

According to Mizzou fans, they have one of the best NIL programs in the country.
