Has he ever called plays before? Not saying it as an indictment, just genuinely curious. I’m interested by Thomas and have heard a lot of good things about him. Thomas as OC and possibly Callaway as PGC would seem to be a sound combination.
I honestly wouldn’t hate this at all. A big part of my interest in Callaway has been continuity of scheme and overall offensive philosophy. By bringing in another, more experienced guy who’s well versed in that same Saints offense and combining him with Callaway at PGC, we get all of those benefits with more seasoning and experience.

Also before he worked directly with Sean Payton for several years... Philosophy and understanding of offense changes immensely

Someone that Joe Brady said was very involved with game plans and teaching him in NOLA.
Sorry, is Brady saying Thomas helped teach him or that he helped teach Thomas?

Thomas helped Joe learn the ins and outs of Payton’s scheme

Joel is really good as a position coach and that’s where he should remain.
If you’re gonna grab a coaching tree.. go after Shanahan’s.

So what?
Go get an ascending coordinator. This isn’t that hard.

I’m not saying this is the top option..: just saying it’s a name I’ve heard kicked around

Gotcha. That makes sense.
Every name that you’ve mentioned is kind meh..
Are there any names that we can get excited about?

Has Moorehead been looked at by the staff? His name has been thrown around on the CC board but I am wondering if he is a realistic option.

Well what names would excite you? In a perfect world who do you want?
Our offense has been outstanding the last two years so if you’re looking for someone who has proven they can do that at this level you’re probably not going to find them. They’re all head coaches now.
There isn’t a slam dunk sure thing hire out there right now that I know of

I agree about this. Curry got way too many snaps when it was clear that early in the season TDP and Emery were the guys.

Thanks for the tidbit Vol, always appreciated

People are going to freak but Lebby should be the guy.

Why would they freak? Lebby would be great.

He has only ever been a coordinator under offensive minded coaches. He’s not a sure thing either.
There is not a single OC candidate out there that is a sure thing.
I think Lebby would be a good hire but we don’t really know what he can do. Same as Calloway or Joel Thomas or pretty much anyone else.
Moorhead is probably the most sure bet.

I like the outside of the box thinking here in addition to kicking back to a “what would Joe Brady like” approach. This thinking is what got us Joe Brady. If they’re able to vet him and think he’s capable of coordinating I say go for it.

There’s not a name that will be posted on this board where it won’t be a 50/50 split.
Find me a thread where someone has mentioned a name and there’s immediately someone posting “meh” or “not excited” because a season where said coach didn’t have 500 yards passing and running per game in a year.
