Really makes you wonder what the hell was his problem. How could he not see he was holding back tons of talent. We could've competed with bama since 2011 but he refused to adapt

2016 will go down as the biggest waste of talent/year in the history of LSU football

all bc of one stubborn a-hole that did not want to change.

Makes you wonder why LSU kept him so long. Mark Richt got a job immediately. Spurrier did. Petrino got another job. All these coaches in the SEC got other jobs after being fired or what have you. But not Leslie.... no surprise to me, he won on TALENT here at LSU

Yes, he needs to at least be looking for work. I think he will be happy with the buyout unless a big time school wants to give him a shot.

its either:
1) He wanted to 2016 to be "frick you, I told you this could still work" year
2) He's really not "all there"

The whole country is aware of how much talent LSU has had during Miles tenure as head coach. The whole country is also aware that LSU's offense under Miles under performed. Offense sells tickets and creates a buzz. Defense wins championships.

BUT Houston and USF are not in "championship" mode they are in program building mode. Defense and running off tackle is not going to sell tickets in either location or excite the fan base.

Is Les Miles really any different than Houston Nutt? Would Houston Nutt have accomplished just as much at LSU as Miles?

Great programs have great players and great coaches. One without the other will not lead to success long term.

I brought this up yesterday on the USF thread and got a way more down votes than up votes. Les, for all of his faults, is very smart and is very good at projecting a public personality that is different than his private one. This is the perfect situation for that. Les needs to act like he's searching for a job in public while privately sitting back and collecting checks.

Les is very rich, stubborn & ignorant. He was beyond incredibly lucky at LSU until his shitty game day coaching and his strange allegance to JJ & BH finally caught up with him.

He talked down to the fans & press by speaking gibberish. People that think Les would be good on Game Day as a replacement for Corso are wrong. Les' stupid shite would get old & stale quick.

Les Miles was a miserable head coach and I'm ecstatic that he was finally fired. I'd love to see him coach & fail somewhere else where he'd have to actually recruit because he won't be the only game in town like he had it at LSU.

Yeah, I'm not sure of the details of his particular contract, but typically buyouts are contingent on finding another job. This is why buyouts never seem to be an issue when coaches switch jobs, as the buyout is really just rolled into the new higher salary.

In practice the buyout figure is essentially an earnings floor, so let's say he is scheduled to make $1M a year from his buyout for 5 years; he gets a job making $500k, LSU is now responsible for a he other $500k. If he makes $1.5M, LSU wouldn't owe anything unless there are guarantees which I'm sure there are.

All of my hear little things can stall a negotiation on the front end. That is why when you hear done deal, proceed with caution. The agreement might be made in principal, but incentives are not actually hashed out. I assume this is where things went wrong with Jimbo this year.

He's not going to get a job.

I said it the minute we fired him and everybody was all "lol are you retarded, best winning pct in lsu history, etc"

I'm leaning towards this one based on the first play call of the year.

It's incredible how far in the sand his head was buried along with 75% of this board.

A couple UH alumni I talked to were pretty excited about possibly getting Les Miles. It is interesting though that Lane Kiffin could get chosen over Les Miles.

Oh frick off. You know someone is salty when they don't even give the man credit for recruiting.

Please tell me a coach not named saban that signed more out of state 5 stars than Les.

If you think recruiting at a high level is something that you can not afford to bust arse at, your opinion doesn't matter.

Why is the national media, the same ones that chastised us for wanting Les gone, not outraged that the great Les Miles is being passed on and not even being interviewed for some of the openings so far?

Age when they got new jobs:
Richt: 55
Spurrier: 59
Petrino: 53

Miles is 63. Age is a bit of a factor here.
