With some rare exceptions maybe, no one who in the range of candidates we’re talking about would turn down Miss St simply because he doesn’t like Starkville. How exactly do you think the “quality of life” there would be so awful for his family that would cause him to pass on the job beyond some rare case like access to certain medical facilities
Holy shite you’re an idiot. Just stop talking. I don’t think I’ve ever spoken to someone who doesn’t understand that some cities are objectively better than others.
Aside from the fact that DFW is one of the best places in the country to live and gives some access to a better variety of schools, restaurants, shopping, churches, types of neighborhoods and styles of areas, better media market, better opportunities for NIL and personal brand sponsorships, it does give better access to medical facilities and quicker quality medical care in the event of what happened to Mike Leach.
What the frick do you think I meant by DFW is objectively a better place to live than Starkville? That the trees are prettier there? Get a clue and stfu

No pal, you just think your preferences universal. Talk about living in a bubble.

The problem of understanding is yours. What’s “objectively” better depends not only on who you are talking but the circumstances, which you are completely ignoring here.

Here is a prime example of the disconnect. Ignoring for a moment the fact that not everyone cares about variety of restaurants or shopping. If you are a major corporation looking for a location for your headquarters then DFW vs Starkville is an absolute no brainer. Same probably if you are a young single person looking for a place to start a “normal” career. But that’s not what we are talking about. We are talking about a coach choosing a football coaching job. In the case of a Head Coach at a Sec school it pays very very well which can make up for the lack of variety in restaurants/shopping. Coaching is not a job where take a job out of college and stay in one city or area for 50 years, they move around, A LOT, often not by choice. Their wife would know this before hand and is presumably on board. They take jobs in locations that an accounting grad may not. Because of the job, not the city.

Who has better NIL and brand opportunities Alabama or TCU? Ohio St or UCLA? Which cities are bigger media markets?

In that case, shouldn’t Nick Saban/ Dabo/Napier and every coach at a college in some small college town resign and look to take the North Texas job?

Nice strawman, though all you’ve done is prove it’s your preferences.
And it’s you that needs a clue, you should learn the context of what we are talking about, rating cities overall and generalizations about lifestyle is meaningless for one specific job like we are discussing. What city is “objectively” “better” is meaningless or a very minor consideration for the type of jobs we are discussing here on the Coach Changes board.

Here’s a summary since my post may be tl:dr
Everything you said that makes DFW objectively better than Starkville would also apply to Tuscaloosa, Clemson, Gainesville etc. Wouldn't you say Nashville is “objectively” better than State College Pennsylvania for the same reasons?
None of that applies to coaches, they go where the best job is. Now not every coach will take every job, even jobs that may better but there are lots of reasons for that, not simply the size of the town.

Not to belabor the point but we’re discussing the head coach at TCU, frankly I think TCU is better job than MSU anyway. But what if it was the offensive coordinator? Assuming he wants to be a HC one day, do you think he would turn down the HC job at Miss St because they have better restaurants in Fort Worth?

Geez guys, stop the arguing over better place to live (btw, Starkville is larger than Clemson, although Greenville isn’t far.)
Anyway, why would a coach at TCU with a team in the playoffs leave for MSU? They wouldn’t.
