Alleva needs to be fired. But your read on it is wrong.
Herman and Fisher both weren't coming. You can't blame Alleva for that. You can't make the girl love you. The failure was focusing in on this two and ONLY those two. We wasted six weeks and a huge advantage. We chose to wait during the season rather than get to a decision.
Even with that failure, at worst, We should be continuing our search today...not falling back to a tier 5 coach at what is still an early stage in the coaching hire cycle.

If as an organization, with time and money at hand, you aren't able to recruit and hire something better than a crap shoot, then you are destined to fail.
For someone that I think is intelligent, that's a very dumb stance you are taking.

Willie Taggart is by far a better coach than O and you will see him become a star while we stay near the mid-tier for the foreseeable future.

This is ALL about Jimbo and Herman didn't want the job and nobody else strikes you as anything better than what you already have. Quit pretending this is an enormous Good versus Evil clash of cultures when this was just a simple, common-sense hire. While technically true, in a real sense this is just nonsense.
No matter what the job you still have uncertainty about how a hire works out - but you should be able to examine resumes and make rational judgments about who is more likely to succeed.
