interesting hire and decision by elko. idk if id choose duke to be my first HC job as a defensive guy but what do i know

A&M might look to hire the UH DC, although their UH coaching pipeline has a spotty history.

This would be an atomic blow to aTm. Elko introduced that school to defense and is 100% responsible for their on-field success AND their recruiting class

He’s familiar with that area obviously but that’s a tough build. Good luck to him if he does take the job.

i was under the impression that santucci was the main recruiter for harold perkins but yes, elko was involved in that one specifically

Yes and no. Basketball schools have a hard time building momentum in football because once basketball starts everyone turns their attention to that and Duke has a hard time getting kids academically qualified. And Duke doesn’t have a lot of local support, because most of their alumni are out of state. Most people who live in NC are State or UNC fans. It’s honestly surprising what WF has accomplished in football.

This would be an incredibly bizarre decision by elko, unless he has some type of connection to duke.
This guy is more or less at the very top of the list for open P5 HC jobs and has tons of talent on his current unit... and he wants to jump NOW... for DUKE? Weird.

I would argue that duke's best case scenario is a fair bit worse than what stanford got to.
Duke's best case scenario is probably closer to what vandy was under james franklin.
