Probably going after Nick Saban, but really any second generation coach looking for a gig?

He may have won 6 bowl games - but generally couldn’t win any other big game. His trademark became giving up 4th quarter leads and almost winning championships. The product just wasn’t very exciting and can interest is lower than it’s been in years.

That said, Tech’s only play is to hire a cheap up and comer or a recently fired coach who’s milking a big buyout check from another school.

If you watched the games you would be more thrilled. Not a well-coached team. Routinely made bad coaching decisions at key points in games.

Our last great coach came from an out of the box at the time hire in Gary Crowton back in 95 who then became head coach the next year.

Our last 4 coaches have been son's of famous or semi-famous coaches. Jack Bicknell, Derek Dooley, Sonny Dykes & Skip Hotlz.

Holtz is nice guy but it was time for a change. The team had given up on him with his insane 4th qtr coaching blunders this year & in the past. Please no more son's of famous coaches.

They will go after Mullen. Look for one of the Davison planes en route to Gainsville, soon.

Thanks for alerting me that I left out Dykes. He was by far the best of the all the coach's sons we hired & I wish he would have never left but I get it.

Damn right for LA Tech. He doesn't have the resume for FCS head coach yet.

Mullen, Herman, Baby Briles. Those should be the targets. Strike out there your looking at lower tier P-5 coordinators. Could always go after BoB.

Mullen's Achilles is recruiting. He could just hit the jucos and transfer portal hard, and do alright at Tech. He's bring some excitement that's for sure

Also lost to a 1-9 team with no QB. That team also went on to have more passing yards than his own QB.

This. Southern Miss is absolutely horrible. At one point their starter was a Jackson Prep true freshman walkon who was something like 5th on the depth chart. And then he got hurt. So they had to look elsewhere. I think they were basically playing their running back at wildcat for a while.

And they beat LA Tech. Holtz basically got Croomed.

I am hearing the entire staff is terminated effective as soon as the Rice game is over.

I can understand how you got your first job because of your last name. The Pati family is known and respected far and wide.

I do understand why Holtz was fired. Louisiana Tech has more resources and tradition than ULM by far, but the Warhawks brought in Terry Bowden, who at least made them competitive in games. For a team that had been winless, with one of the lowest budgets in the country and almost no fan support, that's a nice step forward.
