I'm not freaking out. This search has been very different than others though it seems.
No, no it hasn't at all.

So, now we have Durkin off the board, CP apparently off the board and Kleinpeter is reporting that Steele is likely the best candidate.

I'm just waiting for an official announcement of the hire. There's been way too much speculation the last few days to read into anything else.

Well, here I am blasting people with sources...well, my source that has been right about a lot of things LSU related through the years told me two things this afternoon: (1) he still doesn't definitively know anything meaningful - emphasis anything; (2) but if he were going to hedge a bet...big IF...he would lean towards Steele right now.

wait...
...did you hear that?

Could be promoting from within, therefore there isn't a ton of info out there?

Seems contrary to "reports" today... or are you just trolling?

Well, this is a process that is probably best done outside of the public sphere I would think. Though the numerous radio, print, tv and internet "journalists" have to have some fodder so the vacuum gets filled by all sorts of outrageous bits of info (I'm surprised to see the Pope hasn't been mentioned as a candidate yet). Then you add on message boards and impatient fast food generation people and it gets really fun.

No doubt
There is no way in hell a Steele coached d and our qb problems will result in a 10+ win season next year

Nothing of substance but caught part of Moscona's radio program driving home from work. Only tidbits I took away from it:
- LSU and Miles and Miles' agent Bass received a lot (I'm wanting to say he used the term inundated but I could be mis-remembering) inquiries about the job.
- Miles conducted "between 5 & 8" interviews in Dallas over the weekend.
- There was never serious interest in Stoops. It is possible he was given a courtesy interview but never was going to be hired.
- Seemed to me he looked kind of favorably on a Brick/O combination. (I admittedly know very little about any of the DC candidates but I've been kind of surprised that there really hasn't been more negative reaction to promoting Brick from within to DC status anywhere, including this site which usually blasts just about everything).
- Probably a lot more I am forgetting. Maybe someone else who heard the show can supplement and correct anything I heard wrong.

Oh, how myself and probably most others who post here would hope that is true--Pendergast & Bebe.
It's too bad that sort of like A&M with Chavis, it looked like he would not accept, or at least most of us thought so, then things changed last week.
Too bad that can't happen with Pendergast.
But Shoop would be okay as well.

I don't want Steele as our DC and don't think much of him, just like many of you. However, what are we missing? Evidently Saban thinks the world of this guy. Evidently he can recruit, but Saban promoted him from an administrative recruiting-only position to LB coach, and supposedly trusts him as much as Kirby Smart. I can't imagine a defense-focused coach like him letting a guy frick up his system. What does old Nick see that we don't? I don't get it.
Still don't want him unless it's as an LB coach only.

I am with you. Steele has to have something going for him. At this point we just have to accept whatever decision they make and hope for the best.
