What would Steele defensive scheme be? Smart/Saban's?? If so, it would be very easy to gameplan against a lesser version of yourself...
this infatuation with Steele makes no sense at all

The latest, which I think may be the most speculative, is that Brick will be promoted to DC and Orgeron will be hired to fill his spot.

This would be terrible, no sugarcoating it.

If the problem is finding a way to fit in Brick on the staff, I am sorry but it is time to cut bait.

-His DL has been pretty soft, lacked pressure.
-He came to LSU with Chavis, Chavis bailed, sorry.
-He recruits at a mediocre level. He is the champion of second place.

If loyalty to a DL coach is put before loyalty to the school/program, then it will sound the death knell of the Les Miles era at LSU.

Should make a run at Lance Anderson. Man has done great things at Stanford in a conference loaded with high scoring offenses. Then again, Raymond and Haley probably aren't familiar with him and he doesn't know the recruiting grounds.

He is also BFF with Chavis. Doubt he becomes our DC

Les terminating Brick's contract two weeks after he signed an extension would make Les and LSU look awful.

I get what you are saying, but that contract extension was made with the belief that Chavis would return. Brick is a Chavis disciple.

Would he have been offered an extension if Chavis left three weeks ago? Doubtful.

It would be collateral damage, happens all the time.

All that said, I am sure there is a more politic way to deal with Brick: administrative role, LB coach, whatever.

All I am saying is if Brick handcuffs this search in any way, it's foolish to me and I think it will be detrimental to the program.

The issue may be further shakeups on the staff if Brick is dumped a week after signing an extension. From the perspective of the other position coaches, that's a bad look.

The recruiting fallout from Chavis' departure has been minimal so far, but that could change if more member of the staff defected this late.

Big question is do you really have confidence Miles will get this right?

Not really...though he did hire Chavis and Pelini.

I guess that's a possibility, but the only guy on the staff that is a true Chavis disciple is Haley.

I am less concerned about a few recruits, than I am about the overall health of the football program.

Also, I am not convinced we would lose any committed recruits if Haley is jettisoned. Frank Wilson runs the show, not Haley. In fact, the only DL commit we have right now is from Edna Karr and was recruited by Wilson.

In a perfect world, Haley stays in some capacity, but LSU must worry about itself first.

Miles loves Brick and so does the rest of the staff.

Is his contract making things tricky now? Yes, but he's wanted.

I am sure this is true, but my point is simple: LSU > Brick Haley
