I guess he is a good coach, but does it concern anyone that he time and again struggles with very outmatched opponents?

That reminds me of Les Miles football.

Why does he have continued issues with the lesser teams in the Big 12? I don't get it.

How would he perform better at LSU with similar talent levels and much tougher competition?

If Riley comes here and goes 54-8, idgaf if his 54 wins are all by a single point.

"Just win."

There is literally no coach that blows out every team

Riley is what, 56-10 at OU? If, somehow, you can talk him into leaving you take it 1000 times out of 1000

Hes 54-8. Sometimes shite happens.

Only legit concern I have is that he would have a bunch of success at LSU and get that NFL itch.

There are worse things than becoming a program that a title-starved-but-elite coach can come to for a few years, get a title or two, and then go to the NFL.

I thought my initial question was legitimate.

Lincoln Riley has lost to both Kansas State and Iowa State twice in his tenure. That is not a stellar thing to have on your resume.

Additionally, he lost all bowl games prior to beating Florida's second and third string last year.

but it isn't just that, he has barely won a lot of games. It just reminds me of LSU under Miles and how we were always living on the edge of winning and losing to inferior teams.

It would be nice if were 62-0.

I agree it sucks he lost those games.

This is also his first head coaching job.

Saban at LSU was worse than Riley at OU, record wise (but of course, he got the title that has eluded Riley).

I don't think the cumulative talent level is the same.

Under Riley Oklahoma has beaten their opponents by an average margin of 19 points, I don't see what's wrong with that. Sometimes good teams play close games with other good teams.

You're nitpicking his record too much. Which many posters are guilty of when analyzing coaches.

When you're an elite program, you're going to get everybody's best shot on a weekly basis, and occasionally, shite happens. Even Saban has only gotten through 2 seasons undefeated. I'd also argue the Big XII is much more competitive than it gets credit for.

For some reason, the playoff era has warped people into believing that great coaches should consistently beat their opponents by 4 TDs every week, and routinely go undefeated. It doesn't work that way.

Orgeron lost to Troy two years before the greatest season of all time. Saban lost to ULM before winning a few games over there. shite happens.

Nick Saban struggled against a massively depleted LSU team with a lame duck coach last weekend.

Riley won’t win a Natty anywhere until his defenses consistently can become even respectable.

Have you looked at his schedule so far. very easy. 9-0 and ranked 8 in CFP. They are not impressed and you shouldn’t be either.

I mean we just came within a Hail Mary of Alabama.

I don’t really question Saban being a good coach.

77-49
63-56
84-63
49-35
91-42 type scores might become normal
