Wouldn’t y’all think he would get a HC job within 1 year? Honestly, does it make more sense to get someone that would be here for 3+ years for some continuity?

How would this be any different than any other LSU DC that's been good at their job? If you want good DCs you have to live with the fact they'll jump at the tons of opportunities they'll get. This is a good thing.

Let’s not hire anyone good enough to be desirable.

“Why would you want a great coach when we can get a worse coach for longer?”

Would love to have but he wont be the DC. So we dont have to worry about him leaving. He will be at one of 3 places. Coach at ND/Coach at Cincy/DC at OSU.

No. Just like Aranda, Freeman can wait for the perfect job offer.

To only get a single year out of a coach is not worth it to me. How can your players ever learn a defense and improve if the scheme changes yearly?

Yep, or DC for Fickell if he lands the ND or OU.

Give the man $2.8 Million/year and get him down here.

If he leaves, it's going to be for a P5 job just like Dave

And we’re in much better hands to be able to make these hires

Last 3 DC hires for Kelly: Elko, Clark Lea (HC at Vandy now), and Freeman.

This is elite level college football. There's no escaping assistant coaches coming in and out on a carousel.

The winning formula is still "hire best available"

My point is that Dave was here for 3+ years. Players gained from him being here that long. Not a one night stand.

This is why I'm not worried.
Woodward will do his due diligence.

I'm more worried about the oc hire.

Honestly at this point, building a foundation for this program to sustain success is more important than scheme right now. Team needs a talent and depth infusion and it needs a kick in the arse.

For fricks sake what? You don’t have the defensive depth to be a NC contender next year. You have to rebuild and coach up. What’s the point of getting a DC that’s out for one year?

I'm not worried. It happens here and it happens everywhere. DC's move on for HC jobs if they are successful. If he moves onto a HC job, that means LSU is really good and the defense is really good and another top DC would love to come to LSU to fill the position.

To reload and coach up for next year's national championship.

Or we could hire a jughead that performs his duties so poorly that we fire him after one year.
