Are you serious? He has nothing to gain going to Texas as a DB coach. NOTHING! How the hell does that increase his success at getting DC jobs when at LSU he can do the same thing? Get it now at how stupid that sounds?

Maybe, probably, but if I were him and Texas wanted to talk I would certainly listen to what they had to say.

Raymond makes about $600k according to his last extension, top CB in CFB makes $800k. Top position guys at OSU make 1.1 or so.
If Texas is considering flexing their money penis then a strong offer would be 950k plus a Co-DC title..
Would LSU match an offer like that?

You don't believe being successful at another job (program) can advance your career? Holy shite, are you reading what you typed, do you know how stupid that sounds?

It depends. He's kind of stuck at LSU right now with little room to advance evidently. If he's happy with that, it's best he stays.
Obviously he's not being considered for LSU's spot which is the second time.

Promote LaCouture to DL, he would cost less 1/4th of what Bo Davis would and then give Raymond his yearly pay bump so he keeps advancing financially. It’s not like he isn’t worth the extra money to us. I’ll believe Texas is really going to offer anything close to $1 million for a DB coach. Give Raymond another $100K to get him to $700K and I bet he gladly comes back.

It's only a matter of time before he offers Callaway.
I think Russ is living rent free at your mom's house.

He's not being offered a DC job at Texas. He's being offered DB job. If he's being offered Co-DC or something like that makes sense. Going over there as a DB coach doesn't do anything for him. He's just building up NFL prospects at LSU with consistently pushing together good secondaries. Why would that help him better at Texas doing the same thing? It's not like his 9 year stint at LSU isn't going noticed by other programs. What did they do magically have good secondaries Raymond had no part in? Doesn't work like that.
We don't even know if he wants to be a DC. He was the lowest paid coach on staff before last season. He has been loyal to LSU. He had many calls in the past but he's never really seriously entertained leaving LSU.

Wait, what?? But OC is perfectly fine?
It’s a different situation if you look beyond the surface. Raymond has been here for 10 years and hasn’t been promoted beyond adding additional recruiting responsibilities. There’s been at least four times it could have happened. When you don’t promote a guy who your that familiar with, no offense, but it says something. It at least says the people above him think he needs to go out any prove he can do it elsewhere. He could get a DC job with a G5 school if he wants one and puts his name out there. Maybe he doesn’t?
Peetz came on a recommendation from a guy I think we all have reason to trust, especially since he made similar move up here. Brady obviously understands what that takes. Plus, maybe Raymond has gotten DC offers in the last and we just don’t know about them. But we know for a fact that Peetz has had at least one opportunity to be an OC in the NFL. Another team was also blocked from interviewing him by Carolina.

Apparently there’s some legs to this.
Every year Corey does this to us.

And?
He hasn't been promoted at LSU, that's his ceiling. If he want's to move up, he probably needs to go somewhere else.

What makes you think he's getting promoted at Texas? And what makes you think he hasn't been promoted at LSU? You realize his responsibilities have grown at LSU since he has been here?

True, but his chances to move up to DC at Texas aren’t any better than here. If he wants a DC gig, he’s looking at G5 or maybe a few lower rated P5 programs.

He was given Recruiting Coordinator along with DB coach... That’s a promotion.

Possibly, but what I’ve heard is that he likes developing young players and helping them grow into men.

You’ve just got to go to him and make sure he feels appreciated, maybe kick him a few extra bucks and just talk to him about where he is and how he can reach his goals here.
