Well if we’ve learned anything from the Arkansas coaching search it’s that they certainly know how to take their sweet arse time.

Yeah, and he’d already been HC at an SEC West program (OM) for 3 years before that so he had HC experience pigtard.

Everything people say about Sam Pittman is the exact same thing people said about Matt Luke. This sounds like a few Arkansas boosters love them some Sam Pittman and wanted to hire an old friend.

I wonder if Arkansas' decision to fire Morris after two years is scaring off good coaching candidates. Yeah, I know the Noles fired Taggart after two seasons as well and landed Norvell but FSU is a much better job. Arkansas probably need to do what the Dolphins did with Flores and give the HC a fully guaranteed contract to have a shot at landing a desirable coaching candidate.

He failed miserably. Sorry, you can't convince me he was that much better than Pittman.

Pittman is a top notch recruiter and players coach just like Coach O. It remains to be seen if he can be as bad arse as Coach O at assembling a staff.

nobody truly knows who our first choice was or who we offered. HY played this so close to the vest sources knew jack shite. internet rumor was we wanted Kiffin, sexton obviously helped fuel that. who's to say Pittman wasn't who HY intended to hire for awhile now and was just waiting till after the conference championship game to announce it.

If that is the case, I would have serious reservations with your AD.

Teams don't wait to announce promoting position coaches to be their HC.

UGA didn't have to wait to learn they hired Smart.

FAU didn't have to wait to learn they hired Kiffen.

But Arkansas had to wait to learn they hired UGA's Oline coach. Come on man there is no way to spin how bad HY fricked up this coaching search.

Well if Ark’s #1 choice was a position coach with no heading coaching experience then congrats on fending off all the other schools who were interested in him and landing your top choice.

Well yeah, that’s the point; that he failed miserably. Coach O has said many times that his previous failures as a HC have been key in making him successful this time around. That’s called experience and it’s not something Pittman has.

It’s not about whether or not Coach O was successful; it’s about the experience he gained from years of sitting in the HC seat and Pittman doesn’t have that so the situations are nowhere near comparable.

Sorry bud.

Sam Pittman would be very successful but it would be imperative that he bring in the right staff, with a really good OC and DC but I hope Jim Chaney stays at Tennessee. He and Pittman are just too close. JMHO

I agree that Coach Orgeron learned from his mistakes, especially at Ole Miss, however, some people can learn from the mistakes of others and that can come from experience as well.

All the Arkansas fans pumping this hire are homers, I don’t like it but I’ve accepted it. If he is able to hire a quality staff we may be pleasantly surprised.

I fully expect to be right back here in 3 years.

The same was said about Jon Embree and John Blake; position coaches who became first-time head coaches, and were unmitigated disasters.

Not saying Pittman couldn't work out with a great staff, but the current Arkansas situation is much different than the ones Orgeron and Dabo inherited, and they weren't universally popular hires either.

I have some similar concerns but can see possibilities on the positive side if he does in fact get hired.

I get a similar gut feeling as I did when Orgeron was hired at LSU. And I thought he would be successful.
