Now that New Orleans has been eliminated, the Lions are expected to hire Saints’ Asst HC/TEs Dan Campbell as their next HC, per sources. The two sides still need to work out a deal, but it is not considered an obstacle, and Campbell will be the Lions next head coach.

#Saints assistant head coach/TEs coach Dan Campbell has emerged as the favorite to be the new #Lions head coach, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. No in-person interview can be conducted until their season has ended, so it’s all on hold officially until then.

That was my first thought based on how things are going with the LSU search. I’d imagine he’d take a pro DC gig(if that was the offer)over the same position in college.

He did fine as an interim in Miami and I really wanted Saleh Instead. I like Dan Campbell..lot of respect for him as a player.

I’m glad he’s getting a shot. He’s not going to excite a fan base because he’s relatively unknown and not a coordinator.

That has hurt him as a candidate in the past, but he has a great reputation in the league.

If Bill Parcells and Sean Payton think you’re a good coach, then he’s probably really good coach and has been preparing for this opportunity for years.

Look at what he has done with trautman and josh hill

Trautman has looked pretty good for a rookie tight end.
He is well respected throughout the league

I'm sure he will try and take a few saints with him.

I doubt there is a single person saying to themselves "you know those Saints TEs are amazing, who is their position Coach?"

It's Detroit. That was a given.
