I couldn't find his exact amount but did find this
He certainly didn't take a pay cut to go to Bama.

No contract has been signed, but Saban agreed to a five-year deal worth almost $5 million per year.

His agreement with Alabama is for eight years and a guaranteed $32 million, according to ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli. Saban can earn an additional $700,000 to $800,000 annually in bowl-game bonuses. An Alabama official told ESPN's Joe Schad that the deal contains no buyout clause.

Reality is that any coach making $2-$7 Million to coach a game will always have pressure and unrealistic expectations from all sidewalk fan bases.

Saban left Miami for less money
marginally less per year but substantially more over the life of the contract. he had 3 seasons left and 13 million at Miami. he signed an 8 year deal for 32 million at Alabama. And that was just his base when he signed at Alabama. It came with it 800k in potential bonuses annually. Don't think for a second Saban left one job for less money.

He came back for the love of the game.

Our expectations that we have a coach with an offense that has a pulse are not unrealistic. Or that we be competitive in the SEC west - not unrealistic expectations.

I am no saban fan by ANY means, but the part of his presser that I heard did not even imply any of this. He was all complimentary of CLM. Too, while the HC at LSU, he was sheltered by Mark Emerette (?)from all the political BS, ME being one of the strongest presidents LSU ever had.

He did the exact same thing for Richt last year, expressed his dismay over his firing. Coaching is a big fraternity and Saban is the Archon

Les, come on down to Tuscaloosa. We need a good recruiter!

But he also had bonus potential in his Bama contact that could equal 4.8m per year.
This conversation is splitting hairs. He took a 32m contract over 13.2. Not exactly a pay cut.

No doubt in my mind he will talk to any coach we try to contact and tell them about the pressure and unrealistic expectations he had to deal with and Miles had to deal with.
Lol at the notion that by saying those things, Saban will be telling a candidate something he doesn't already know.

exactly. like we always say with professional contracts, the most important part is guaranteed money. he had guaranteed about 3 times more to go to coach Alabama than had he stayed in Miami

Lol. I sincerely doubt Saban is out to sabotage LSU coaching search or anyone else's for that matter.

He also understands that if he were to turn in two or three consecutive multiple loss seasons that his arse in on the line too.... So I can understand why he'd say this. It's smart politics.

I am sure Saban just wants whats best for the kids....
Before they get to the NFL.
