I’ll go on and say it.

As someone who is more than underwhelmed by the Brad White seemingly done deal...

Why not go back after Nielsen? He was pretty much on his way to take the job last year until Sean Payton stepped in front. But maybe a little more money, opportunity to coach with a better team under Brian Kelly. Plus the Saints have been a bit of a sinking ship....

Maybe LSU could pry him away this time.

Your underwhelmed but want someone that hasn't even been a defensive coordinator in years.

The dude has been a position coach since 2013.

Yeah I’m good. And I wouldn’t even hate Nielsen. But White is a very good, smart hire.

Guy had top 4 SEC defenses with Kentucky talent. Despite playing in the East faced off against SEC’s top offenses and still managed a top 4 conference defense. Well-regarded rising star in the industry. Xs and Os tactician a La Aranda.

How long will it take him to get acclimated to calling a game and make adjustments to counter the adjustments offenses WILL make. We just did this.

Please tell me your extensive analysis undertaken to choose one DC over the other?

I know the following:

O wanted Nielsen
Kelly (reportedly) wants White

Given the two “selectors”, I’ll roll with Kelly

No one on this board is NEARLY as qualified as Kelly to make this choice. I’ll wait and see the outcome. But, I have zero reason to doubt Kelly yet.

The Nielson thing was a connection with O. O is gone therefore we will hire an actual defensive coordinator...

Some of y’all won’t be happy with anybody not named Nick Saban lol

Just because Brad White is not a popular name and is at Kentucky doesn’t mean he isn’t good you know.

I think Nielsen would be a great hire. I think keeping Jones would be great. I think Brad White would be great too. If we are basing it off actual DC experience then White is the way to go. White has been successful with lesser talent in the SEC. If we want a guy who is still pretty fresh but shows a lot of promise the. Jones is the way to go. If we want to gamble on an elite NFL positions coach then Nielsen is the way to go. Nielsen might be the best d line coach in the nfl. The saints feel so strongly about him that they made him the assistant head coach. I think he would crush it as DC but there would be a learning period.

I think any of those 3 would be great. If those were our three options then we will be just fine.

My understanding was Nielsen wanted to come last year, but the Saints wouldn't let him due to a clause in his contract. They then gave him an additional title and some money/time on his contract. It wasn't a money issue, it was a contract issue.

Nielsen is a great DLine coach coaching under a very good defensive coordinator.

He’d be a good hire, IMO.

Sean only "Stepped in Front" when Shrimpy didn't pick up the phone and make a pre-requisite
"Courtesy Call" asking permission to talk with Lord Sean about Nielsen becoming the LSU DC.........
