No, his Sanford OC experience counts, but do you feel that is enough to elevate him all the way from analyst to OC at LSU?

Not advocating for him at all, but OC at Sanford to OC LSU is not some crazy move.

Seriously? How did Brady’s resume BEFORE LSU make him that much more qualified?

I’d say Callaway has way more experience on his resume with coaching, recruiting, play calling..... Plus, just growing up 30+ years around ALL the past and present SEC coaches and being a part of the SEC coaching and recruiting world gives him leverage.

I am all in for Callaway and hope LSU makes the right call. Sure would hate to lose him to another SEC team.

Don’t hate QB coach.

I think It’s about time we have a dedicated one.

Further evidence DP provides “leaks” to that site

They have had inside information in the program for longer than DP has been there.

What makes him the right call over another OC?

What makes him more qualified than let's same Graham Harrell, Jeff Grimes or Sowder?

If we have to pay up To land Freeman im ok with hiring Calloway. I think Callaway will do a good job although there seems to be a lot of people not as high in him as a lot of us here. I like Moorhead but I’m not sure if they’re planning to pay the price for an OC and DC. Freeman and Moorhead would be the 1-2 punch id like to get but I don’t think that’s realistic. I’d settle for Freeman and Calloway

I’m not implying there’s a blank check, but we went from winning a Natty to 5-5 and a lot of that big of gap had to do with coaching. I think at this point they spring the extra money to get back to glory sooner than later. Just my opinion...

He’s definitely younger than a couple of the coaches, but what really qualifies him? IDK, other than passion for coaching, knowledge of the game, and his work ethic. Callaway knows football and lived it every single day of his life. Wasn’t Linehan qualified on paper? Where did it get us?

All I know is my gut feeling tells me that Russ Callaway wants to prove how good he can be.

Well, maybe Callaway is another outlier.

Can you tell me what system he runs?

Maybe, but what evidence do you have? What about his stats makes you think that? Besides your gut.

No more evidence than you had when Brady was hired.

What’s on paper isn’t always the best option for deciding who is the best coach for the job. Maybe seeing him in action with the players and other coaches is the best qualifier.

I think we should put Callaway as the OC and Nielsen the DC

I never said we went cheap, go back and re-read, I said the the success gap between 19 and 20 had a a lot to do with coaching and that they would spring the extra money to get back to top level coaching.
But to push back on you a little bit- if there’s a chance in hell of luring Moorhead away from Oregon you’re looking at $2.3-2.5M, way more than E got! And to even lure Harrell away from sunny LA, where they play shite D’s all year, you’re looking well north of $1.5M!

I think it had more to do with talent/experienced players. Not saying coaching and changing defensive system didn't have any effect but it wasn't the main reason.

I’d say it was 50/50, 60/40 at worst. I mean Brady vs E/Linehan and Aranda vs Pelini, I mean...I mean, bro!

You bring all the players (offense and defense) back from last year... give Pelini a full spring... no injuries or opt outs and we are most likely back in the playoffs.

Once again, I fully believe Aranda and Brady were better but I think not seeing the talent/experience gap as being the primary issue is naive. I will say this... if we would've had Aranda and Brady this year with everything else being equal (lack of talent/experience, opt outs, etc). We might have won 2 more games.
