While nothing is official just yet, there are multiple signs pointing to New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels becoming the Philadelphia Eagles’ next head coach.

quote:

The Eagles interviewed McDaniels in person on Sunday. John Clark reports the meeting lasted “from mid-morning into the evening past 9:00 PM.” A long interview doesn’t necessarily guarantee a hire, to be clear. But it’s clear this wasn’t just some courtesy meeting. McDaniels is a serious contender

quote:

The sports agency that represents Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, whom the Eagles reportedly want to interview, seems to think that McDaniels is getting the job in Philly

quote:

The Eagles have been prone to over-correct. Prime example: the team didn’t have enough speed in 2019, so they went out and forced a first-round pick on Jalen Reagor (instead of taking the best available player in Justin Jefferson) due to “fit.” From a coaching perspective, the Eagles used “emotional intelligence” as a reason for replacing Chip Kelly with Doug Pederson. Perhaps now they view Pederson being too lenient (especially in the case of Carson Wentz) and want someone who will coach harder.

Someone please explain why Josh McDaniels is even considered for a head coaching job.

He was an embarrassing failure with Denver as a head coach.

then he screws over the colts by accepting the head coaching job and then telling them that he's not going to take it, so obviously integrity is not his strong suit.

Then we get to see him as office coordinator without Tom Brady and it's an utter disaster.

I think you mean Denver, but the point stands.

The NFL is a retread league

Got rid of the only coach who brought them a Super Bowl to bring in Josh McDaniels. I’d be pretty upset if I were an Eagles fan

Why shouldn't he get another opportunity? This type of mentality is really odd. Why in the world did the Pats give Bill another shot

Because he couldn't do shite with Cam but the Eagles brass think he can with Hurts? They basically have the same skillset. The OC from Kansas City would be my choice.

I wish the Eagles would announce Matt Eberflus at the same time as McDaniels was pulling into Philly in his moving van.

For those that don’t know, the Colts hired McDaniels in 2018, he started hiring his staff, then backed out to return to the Pats.

Eberflus was the LB coach in Dallas. He accepted DC job in Indy, the Cowboys hired his replacement, then McDaniels backed out leaving Eberflus jobless.

Frank Reich was then hired and kept Eberflus. He’s done a good DC in Indy turning around their defense and has a good reputation around the league. He’s been a HC candidate the last three offseasons, and a finalist for a couple of HC jobs.

No, shut up, that makes too much sense. They should hire McDaniels immediately!

Wasn’t it rumored that McDaniels had Peetz slated to be his OC at Indy had he accepted the job in 2018? Hope the dude don’t come calling for Peetz now.

Marriage of convenience for both parties. McDaniels might not get another shot for a number of years due to New England’s lack of offensive talent and Philly’s job is extremely unappealing right now with their cap and QB situation.
