Jimmy will be out. It’s already done. There are definitely rumors flying around up here. Not sure any carry weight though.
First and foremost, this is an academic university. Big, big, money with boosters etc. When Scotty was here it was all about pumping money in to athletics.
Absolutely gorgeous area with no income tax. Even so, I’m not sure the rumors have any teeth, but Lake is gone!

Let’s not forget NorCal recruiting and no state income tax!

Really? Communists? Come on Chicken. It is certainly a Liberal city, more so Seattle than rest of King County, but complete opposite of communism.
Liberal does not equal Communism. Ugh

Wrong! You absolutely can opt out. You are automatically enrolled, but by clicking a freakin box you opt out for life.

They have so much more to do in the PNW. Like riots on the weekends, defund the police marches during the week.

Still safer than night time in Baton Rouge, though.

Just depends on what you want out of your coaching career. Less pressure at UW but still a demonstrated potential to compete at the highest levels.
I get that this is an LSU board and on the whole we have absolutely no pulse whatsoever on west coast fanbases and expecations, but no. Washington has a VERY delusional fanbase. They see themselves as a west coast power that is only maybe surpassed by USC, and only maybe. I don't disagree that Jimmy Lake is not the dude, but there's a reason why he's being fired midseason his FIRST real year. That's gotta be one of the worst jobs in the country from an expectations to program reality standpoint.

Idk man, Washington is an amazing place to live, plus they're still one of the power programs in the area and the pressure isn't too intense there

Show your proof. Starting 1/1/2022 it is automatically withheld.

Stop narrowing your focus to downtown Seattle and Olympia.
It's a great place to live here if you can get past the shitty people who run it.

Most coaches at the level LSU is looking for don't have toddlers. And at $8M a year, any older kids will be just fine in whatever quality of life that buys for them.
They aren't buying a house off of Scenic or Plank either. The coaches and their families will likely never reach north BR.

Well there is that as well. Along with mountains, skiing....great scenery. Seafood is not bad either. Top notch tech community, Boeing aircraft. Relatively cool summers
Louisiana has baws riding in pickup trucks who are going to at best work at the refinery. Substandard schools, shitty infrastructure overall and a political culture that makes sure it all stays that way and hot as frick summers along with floods and an overabundance of cultural for the tourists

Not every body would turn down LSU money for UW money. You have to remember everyone is greedy.

quote:Yeah well you're just straight-up wrong about this one. LSU is a great place for someone on the come-up (if given the chance) or someone in their prime. Nobody who is closer to retirement than their prime gives a frick about the LSU opening. Certainly not anybody who makes quality of life something of a deciding factor.
There’s not a coach on earth who has fricking Washington higher than LSU and USC.

He wants to come back to Seattle to coach.

That program is all the expectations of Alabama with the resources of Mississippi State, and I'm not aware of any of the notable candidates having any ties to Seattle that would make them want that job.
Resources of Mississippi State? UW has been #1 in the nation in football revenues before. $$$ isn’t the problem for UW, it’s university leadership that is an issue.

But their wives and kids do… That being said, isn't Seattle full of communists these days?
UW coaches typically live across the lake from Seattle, away from the commies. Neuheisel’s kids would have attended football powerhouse Bellevue H.S. Don James lived in Kirkland.

Hey, Washington has plant baws too. That Alaska crude oil doesn’t refine itself.
