You said your source was someone in the media close to the board.

If you truly do have a local media source close to the board, it’s extremely likely if not a certainty they are being told incorrect information. On purpose. For obvious reasons.

I think you probably do actually have a media source. My only point is to take that source with a grain of salt in a coaching change search. They’re likely being misled.

Saban is a great smoke screen as is Kiffin for Hepuel or vice versa.

Bama fans are secure with the legacy Saban left in Tuscaloosa and.would not cry like the whiny bitches in Baton Rouge have been doing since 2007.

I'll be the first to admit we've been whiny about Saban since he left. But acting like Bama fans would be any different is absolutely hilarious.

Pretend this is real for a second, Kiffin was the first name and was being pushed hard. Saban rumors popped up on Friday, then died out. Heupel started on Sunday, then Sunday night Saban rumors became the trend again

Seems obvious that Kiffin and Heupel would be screens for Saban.

Saban is unemployed you don’t need to smoke screen him. You could in theory hire him tomorrow.

yeah the part about us offering kiffin is 100% believable. while he is nowhere near my first or second choice id absolutely support him if that is who they wanted.

getting him is another story.

No, but it's something they'd want to suppress and keep quiet I would think.

Why? Saban doesn’t have a fan base or media he has to deal with. That’s why you smoke screen.

Probably just the sheer insanity of it all. I don't really understand it but It just makes sense for some reason

Just for shock value I guess I don't really know

The only reason to smokescreen FOR Saban would be to get the President announcement done first and maybe get the LSU-Bama game done first.

If the President is announced tomorrow and Saban isn’t announced within 7 days after that, then it’s definitely not Saban. It would be announced this weekend or next week at the latest IMO.

Maybe he doesn't want it announced the week of Bama-LSU. Just playing along....

you can always come up with reasons, just that idea itself is crazy enough that people aren’t going to believe it until it happened so i don’t see the need a smoke screen campaign the way you would a coach who is somewhere else waiting for his season to end.

He's not factoring in Saban's discount for LSU. his 2003 title was his favorite.

I didn't realize the timetable for making the hire was so immediate.

Pardon my ignorance but can coaches accept a new job and start coaching another team midseason or would the change be for next season?
