Joey McGuire of Cedar Hill is set to join Matt Rhule’s staff at Baylor, SicEm365 has learned. McGuire is the third high school coach to make the transition to the collegiate level since the hiring of Rhule last week, joining David Wetzel (San Antonio Reagan) and Shawn Bell (Cedar Ridge).

Smart, pretty sure Chad Morris did something similar at SMU (but he also already had the TX high school connections)

I'm sure they're just gonna fill in roles somewhere, some bullshite te position or something.

they're there to get talent.

Seems like a reasonable way to make hires in a state as provincial as Texas when he's never coached or recruited there.

Smart idea. I am interested to see how his recruiting class turns out.

2017 will probably be ugly. The '18 class will be the one to watch

Wetz is the president of the Texas high school football coaches association.

If Rhule gets Jeff Traylor as his final assistant, then we will have done far better than anyone expected.

Great hire, Cedar Hill is a gold mine of talent. Joey was great with the kids there, he'll be an outstanding recruiter

Being that LSU gets 98% of the talent it targets it's not a good comparison.

what? i'd actually want him on staff since we no longer have many texas ties at the moment.

besides, you have to think about the situation. rhule doesnt have any texas ties, so going this route IS the smart thing.
