If he did, that's the end of his coaching career. We'll know soon enough. Someone as high profile as him getting canned will be public in very short order.

When we won a national championship with Doug Nussmeier calling plays I completely stopped worrying about who the offensive coordinator is. I mean, the guy is terrible at it and even he couldn't frick it up

Unfortunately that's the rumor. Alcoholism sucks.

And were there not reports from everywhere that Kiffin was gone one way or another this season?

There has to have been a reason Saban brought in Sark early in the year

Barring a disaster, everyone thought Kiffin would get a head coaching job after this season. Lots of people thought he might get one after 2015.

That doesn't mean that Alabama/Saban won't pay what they think someone is worth. With Kiffin, up until this fall it didn't matter what Bama paid him because he was still getting the USC money. The second that ended, Bama upped his salary to reflect his status as one of (if not the) top assistants in college football.

If Saban wanted to keep him and it took 2 million, they'd pay it without hesitation.

Saban couldnt nor should he give two shits who we try to hire.

You're right, but now Alabama is looking for another OC now, too, if this is true. Now it would be a matter of who could make their mind up first as to who they want while the other will be picking from what's left.

I feel bad for the guy if true. Addiction is terrible. Kudos to Saban for giving the guy a second chance to prove himself, even though it looks like it won't work out.

So, did he just get drunk or did he act the fool and embarrass himself?

Mike Locksley:

During his horrific stint with the Lobos, Locksley went 2-26 and also was involved in a series of off-the-field incidents, including serving a one-game suspension for punching one of his assistant coaches and being sued for sexual harassment by a former administrative assistant (all legal claims in the matter were resolved).

On a human level, that's a real shame if it's true.

They are waiting to see what OC's LSU interviews, then, once we find the best one, Saban will swoop in and offer them more money...

Or they're swinging this rumor out there like so much bait, hoping CEO "bites" and hires the guy he knows Sark...and they can announce Helfrich as his replacement.

This is why, in all honesty, I can't see Sark going to LSU. I do believe the CEO is mostly driving this OC ship, but if there was a scenario in which Alleva should intervene, it would be here.

All for Sark turning his life around, sure, but coming to BR and LSU goes beyond merely tempting fate. Might as well move a recovering male sex addict into the Playboy Mansion.

If Kiffin were to get renewed at his current salary, he'd make 2.1 million at Bama next season.

Pointless post as there has been absolutely no effort from Bama to retain him as a coach. Very telling that they are not willing to pay that amount of money for an OC.
