Remember when Michigan State went all in to keep their coaches there when Saban left?

They tanked. They are all giddy right now but we’ll see how it turns out.
“When Saban left for LSU at age 49, he famously sent a plane back to Michigan to pick up any assistants who wanted to join him. Nobody got on it. They stayed in East Lansing to work under his former assistant, Bobby Williams. For many observers, there was an easy and obvious conclusion: They never wanted to work for the guy again.
And a lot of players surely thought: Good riddance.
But time passed. And every now and then, two of his former Spartan players would be chatting, and one would admit:
"I'm rooting for LSU."
And the other would say: "Me, too."
And then one of them would say: "Don't tell anybody."

I just realised Cristobal stole Bobby Williams from Saban

Urban left OSU and Day has worked out well. Stoops left OU and Riley turned out well.
Freeman is a young up and comer who was going to get a shot somewhere. I think he’s a damn good coach.

The “stick together without the main guy and pretend everything is still the same” method just doesn’t work. You can’t cut the head off the serpent and say it’s good as new when you salvage the “intact” body.
Kelly was the centerpiece of that staff, those guys are all riled up and making emotional decisions that are going to cost them a ton of money when the Freeman hire doesn’t work out

“In Woodward we fricking trust”
I’ve learned my lesson. No concerns. They’ll get it done just fine even if the first year is slightly patchwork.
Fully content with Jones at DC.
Even if they kept Peetz (not a fan of it) he’ll be serviceable with a true coach on deck.

Watch for some of the ND staff to join Kelly in the future, 2023 and beyond

this is just ridiculous sour grapes man. Plenty of good DCs out there, Brian Kelly and LSU will be fine

BK gonna break out his massive rolodex. We’ll be fine.
THERE WILL BE ALIGNMENT!

I like Freeman a lot. It’s a gamble for ND but I think he has the ability to be successful.
Rees went to school there. Notre Dame is a special place - I wouldn’t leave there either if it were my Alma Mater.

Would Ensminger have left LSU to work at ND for a pay raise? No.
IT was classy of BK to offer members of his staff a good job at a great Univ and get them a raise. H knows which ones might be interested.
Some coaches may have told him they want to stay at ND and coach the playoff games. IF they don't make the playoffs one or 2 might decide to come.

We will definitely be happy with our new coaches when they are vetted and chosen. I would not expect less from their coaching staff. They should stay with the ship.

We aren’t keeping Jones and Peetz. Good lord can this shite stop. Kelly will find great hires, it is what he does.
