Avoiding Distractions will be the common excuse, like it or not.
And if that’s the excuse, no reason to hold other interviews as a charade. but the real reason is waiting for something bigger/better..so get ready to get disappointed O

It’s been Nielsen all along. Young, up and coming, done some DC duties in the past according to his resume. Extensive college coaching including recruiting duties. Strong ties to Orgeron in stints at USC and Ole Miss
Sure thing, that’s why we’re flying these guys in on our private jet and letting these candidates eat our best steak and drink our wine only to publicly humiliate us by not getting in the sack.
The more logical deduction is this search has come off the rails and everyone knows it. Os deep up the creek without a paddle. The longer this drags the more likely he has to hire a position coach like he did with OC.

I’ve stated it before and I’ll do it again. After the 5th-6th gane, CEO knew he had to replace Bo. The longer this goes on...how many weeks now???...it seems as though there really wasn’t a list of candidates that were vetted/feelers towards the end of the season. He openly said, he was all in on Freeman, let him leave with a handshake agreement and got left at the alter. “Reading the tea leaves” from former players comments, jordy/hanni/mascona, silence from “insiders”, doesn’t feel like there was a plan B. Now ppl are saying it’s Neilson, but can’t sign anything until after N. O. Playoff run, so still bringing in others to interview. Lol
Meanwhile, Sark signs with UT, continues to coach in CFP and build UT staff. Saban continues to maintain Alabama in CFP and hire his new OC.
LSU was literally the first major program to be searching for a DC and O is scrambling

Nielsen is in line for NFL DC position. I just can’t see him deciding working for O vs Sean Payton.

Same shite by Alleva knowing he was replacing Miles for almost a year led to Orgeron

I don’t believe it was Nielsen all along, but I believe he was candidate 1B.

I’m okay with this too I just hope he’s not coming the way Lane was

Just like Ensminger at OC, just like O at HC.
And just like our new OC.
We'll end up with a DC who's never been a DC; an OC who's never been an OC; all after the worst LSU season in 21 years. These are the kinds of decisions our meat-head coach makes. He has the judgment of a 13 year old.

Nielsen just said “Everybody talkin’ at me, I can’t hear a word they’re sayin’.
Said he wants to go to a place where the weather suits his clothes. What is all that about?

There’s no reason to be super secretive or put on a charade.
Exactly. Coaches still coaching interview and take other jobs so the time, then they finish out their seasons. The only reason I can think of to wait is because the candidate wants to see what else is out there and the offer in hand isn't the one they truly want.
If someone really wants this job, they're not going to let finishing out their season stop them from taking it. We're talking about a defensive line coach, too. It's not like the team's going to be distracted by the d line coach accepting another job.

Bingo. Has nothing to do with “distraction”

If he’s really up for one or more NFL DC jobs, who would blame him for waiting?

Nobody would blame him for waiting. But we shouldn't just wait around while he tries to land a better job, either. That's a lot like what happened with Kiffin.
If Nielson is Orgeron's top choice, then Orgeron needs to keep interviewing guys and if he finds someone else he likes, he needs to tell Nielson his backup plan is about to be filled and he needs to make a decision.

If he's coming why interview arnett
Nielsen turned him down already.

No one!
But that’s a dangerous gamble for CEO and LSU to wait around.

The nielsen shite is bullshite
People just keep repeating it.
I'm sure o wanted him and called him and he turned the offer down.
That's why freeman was his "first choice". I believe he thought he would get freeman and when he didn't, derek is now reading the board.
You will probably see reeves and lukabu next

Yeah, that could become a problem going head to head with NFL teams.
Top DC’s in CFB are making as much as DC’s in the NFL these days

While i somewhat agree with you, O is setting himself to left at the altar again. Nielsen will be sought after for numerous NFL positions.
I said the same thing in another thread, but if Nielsen wants to be a NFL DC that bad lsu would probably have him for one year like Brady. I really like Nielsen but also would like someone who can bring some long term continuity to the defensive side of the ball. Not saying I don't want him, but if he will just jump back to the NFL at the first opportunity then it may be best to look elsewhere

Given the amount of time, not having a clear #2-#3 after Freeman is ridiculous. The search didn’t start Jan 1st lol
