Another option would be him stealing Pruitt from bama.

That's not happening. I also don't believe Jimbo doesn't want to keep Aranda, Random is probably just trying to keep people calm for now.

Not trying to throw any shade your way from your info, but the info I am getting from my buddy at UT is that Herman is going to get an open checkbook to hire anyone he wants and the assumption around UT is that he is going after Aranda BIGTIME!!

What I have been told is that Strong knows he is out at the season's end, and that the UT boosters feel VERY, VERY confident Herman is their next coach. So if those two things are true "and my contact should know" then I don't see how Aranda stays. My boy said Aranda will probably be the highest paid DC in college football, which I am sure we would match.

Here is where just logic falls into place because I don't know any info on this, but if one of you good friends "ex-roommate" calls you and asks you to come help him build the UT brand back to prominence and I will make you the highest paid DC in your profession. How does he turn that down? That is all I am saying.

If Jimbo doesn't want to keep Aranda, don't offer him the job.

yeah and if you think about timing, then LSU would be screwed if they were to announce the retaining of O and then UT announces Herman and then shortly after, Aranda.

for LSU's sake, it needs to hope that provided UT does hire Herman, that he takes his current DC, Todd Orlando, with him.

Why would Aranda take a step down to a dumpster fire?

If you believe he will leave because of his ex roommate calling the you believe Kiffin will be Os OC

I saw that rumor, but some also said it was FSU admin refusing to pay

Hopefully this is what happens, and we keep Aranda for at least a couple more years.

Then Coach O wouldn't be keeping Aranda either. So how would the Coach O crowd feel about that?

f you believe he will leave because of his ex roommate calling

Look at present UT is as much as a dumpster fire as UT could be. But if you think for one fricking moment that UT is not one of the top 5 jobs in college football then discussing anything with you is pointless because you are truly clueless and nothing I can say will get you up to speed with the real world.

Now to answer your comments directly, no I don't think Aranda will leave just because an ex-roommate calls. But an ex-roommate that Aranda is close to "Herman is one" that calls and says come to Texas and you will be the highest paid DC in your profession and probably the highest paid coordinator in your profession. Then yes I think that is a decision that would be very palatable to anyone in that postion. And I will go one step further, if that happens "and I believe it will" then I definitely think Aranda is GONE!!!

That being said if Aranda's stays I personally don't think it is more than 2 years because I feel Aranda is headed to the NFL with his talent and demeanor he is probably more suited for the NFL than college in my opinion!

Hopefully, it will sober them up. In the end, you get the best HC you can and give him the $$ and autonomy to get the right assistants.

Rank your top 5 jobs in college football.

Not saying I disagree with you, but I swear there are about a dozen 'top 5' jobs every time talking heads get on the topic.

My top 5 would be in no particular order;

Bama
USC
Ohio State
Texas
Michigan, LSU, Florida, FSU - those 4 are interchangeable in my opinion.

Yes but I said the last 4 were interchangeable so take your pick as to what school you want to put in there.

Sweet sassy mollasy why would Fisher NOT want to keep Aranda????

It probably isn't so much about Aranda as it is about the precedent it would set with the admin dictating staff decisions. It's really a ridiculous move by Alleva and company if true.

Dude, why would you phrase it like this?

The issue is whether Jimbo gets free reign on hiring. LSU wants to dictate on Aranda, Jimbo just wants the control. So that if Aranda stays, its because he knows Jimbo hired him

LSU just needs to let it happen, or end up with a Tier 2 hire

I agree. I'm starting to think Alleva will frick this up somehow....
