Sounds like Coach O mite not stay on the staff, a big loss in recruiting.

Big loss for him too. He pulled that move after USC picked Sark over him and then he was out of work for a year

It's not just the recruiting. O is a great defensive line coach. Miles could recruit too, but obviously can't coach d-line and derp sure as shite couldn't coach pass blocking to save his life. Point is it will be a big blow as much as some in this thread don't want to admit.

There are other great DL coaches out there.

no shite. No one has posted anything contrary to this.

But there are several people blowing off any potential negative impact to him leaving. If he isn't leaving to become a HC at a smaller school, it will impact us.

O's role in undermining Miles has not been fully appreciated by our fans
Can you fill us in on details so we can appreciate it?

He's a mercenary recruiter and DL coach, and a damn good one. Just happens to be from LA.

That's a good word to describe him.

Though if Lane Kiffin gets a HC job then you can be sure O won't be far behind. That's the only person he has any kind of loyalty to.

LSU currently has 8 defensive linemen on active NFL rosters that were recruited to LSU before Orgeron got here.

I mean, what's his sale pitch going to be? "Look kid, you don't want to go to LSU because they didn't think a DL coach should be their head coach. This makes me angry and now I'm going to recruit against them at this new job where I am......... just a DL coach." Am I taking crazy pills this morning? No DL coach in the history of anything has ever taken a program down.

I'm pretty sure Aranda can manage just fine running the D and finding a new DL coach should O leave.

When you are auditioning and fail, you cannot expect to get the part. End of story.

Yep.

HE IS NOT AN LSU GUY!!!!!!! He went to NSU and has had success at Miami, USC, etc......

Just because he's from Cutoff doesn't make him a Tiger. Ever meet some of our Acadian brethren at ULL?

If anything, LSU fans and administration should've felt like they were looking into a window with the ghost of LSU football past watching Les lose a game the way they did to Florida and seeing the team lifeless on the sideline for 3 quarters.

No. He has always been a great recruiter. Being here for two years has just strengthened his connections to high schools in the state. If he goes to a smaller program, it won't be a big deal, but I don't see any way our SEC West opponents aren't opening the checkbooks for a chance to take a few extra players out of LA every year. If he ends of at A&M, that is a problem for us in a way that Chavis going there hasn't been. There is a lot to sell there, with all the money there is in that program. He could do the same at UT, but at least there he wouldn't be hurting is head-to-head.

Downvote away. I don't give a shite. Reality isn't as black and white as some of you idiots want to paint it. He has done the best job recruiting the front 7 since at least Pelini, possibly Saban and Musschamp. You don't just the next man up to do that, even at LSU shooting fish in a barrel. I guess Brick just didn't have good aim, right?

I'm glad CEO did well. Always thought the team performing well under him helped LSU.

With that said, if he honestly thinks he still deserves a shot at being permanent HC after Florida, there is no help for him. You don't even have to review the whole game. Just the red zone performance.

To me the kicker is that a few days after the game he says LSU needs to utilize the WR's better.

WTF wasn't this guy fired after the 4th game?

you're right, he didn't. some recruiting cycles, he just didn't shoot at all.

More black and white. Just damn. No one is saying that, just like no one with any sense is saying he should be the head coach here anymore.

However, in case you football illiterates haven't noticed, we are just now getting back to serviceable levels of SEC-caliber players on the front 7. Maybe you missed the part where Bama and UF could push our still undersized D Line around. This isn't a good time to take a hit there. We need the next staff to keep that momentum going and get us back to the kind of depth we used to have at those positions.

This isn't going to kill us, but it could make the next staff's job, especially this year when we are legitimately vulnerable in recruiting because of all the upheaval, a lot harder than it should be.

That's right. Some of our fan base thinks we can hire a guy off the street, and that recruiting just happens on its own here because we're LSU and automatically own all of LA. That is not reality. We don't own all of North LA and the Monroe area as it stands right now.
