That's how conferences are organized for the most part - institutionally. A few big football schools in each of the P5, but all institutional equals.

The UCF is the perfecr rebound job. He inherits a top 15 team that he should win 9 or 10 games next yr, and he can jump back to a P5 team

He should wait to see if Taggart leaves for FSU and then try to get that Oregon job.

Sources: UCF wants Kevin Sumlin for head coach
quote:

UCF is targeting former Texas A&M and Houston coach Kevin Sumlin to be its next coach, according to sources with knowledge of the search.

The school is looking to replace Scott Frost, who Saturday accepted the coaching job at Nebraska, his alma mater. Frost guided UCF to an 11-0 record and an American Athletic Conference championship this season, and the Knights are the only remaining unbeaten team in the FBS.

CBS Tampa first reported UCF's interest in Sumlin and that the two sides were already negotiating a deal. A source told ESPN that contact with Sumlin will be "imminent," if it hasn't happened already.

Texas A&M fired Sumlin on Nov. 26 after he went 51-26 in six seasons at the school. Sumlin is 86-43 overall as a head coach. He had discussions last week with Tennessee about its head-coaching vacancy.

UCF is also expected to consider offensive coordinator Troy Walters for its coaching vacancy, according to sources. Walters on Saturday was named the team's interim coach, although Frost still hopes to coach in the team's upcoming bowl game.

If he were smart, he would hold off til Purdue comes open. We can def. keep Brohm away from that shithole in TN but might be hard to keep him from going to FL and an actually relevant, power program.

You know he actually accepted an offer from Tennessee until our Chancellor made our AD give him a lesser offer, right? So, basically, our “shithole” was still better than Purdue. Basically, what I am saying is, any good coach will try to leave Purdue ASAP. Your school sucks that bad.

None of that happened.

There was no interview. There was no offer. UT was told he was not interested.

Read your own rivals board. The facts are there. The fallacy you state above was a Clay Travis generated rumor and let’s be honest...he hasn’t been spot on the last weeks with anything...

BS...and you know it. I dont know what your deal is with Tennessee is but you need to check your role. Not only is Tennessee, in its lowest point ever, better than your school, but, basically, the whole SEC is better than your school. Otherwise, you wouldnt be over here worried someone is gonna take your coach. I would say just go and enjoy basketball season, but we already beat you this year. Must suck to be you.

Looks like the Sumlin came back with some demands and Danny White walked away from the table.

Rumor is that Sumlin is on Oregon’s short list. I hope he goes to UCF.

I’m not desperate enough to believe Clay Travis rumors.

The facts are...Brohm was never interviewed. How many coaches get offers and/or accept jobs before having more than a brief conversation? That’s all there was and you got turned down.

Keep living in the past. If your team was anywhere as good as you like to think they are...they’d have a coach by now.

Let’s be honest again..if your fan base wasn’t so terrible...you’d have that coach.

Can he?

Has he ever shown he can build a program instead of inherit one from someone else?
