There should have some sort of compromise on that deal.

Purdue fan trying to do smack talk? lol.

Nebraska will return again to where they belong. There is no major power program within 500 miles of Lincoln, NE. That is the area of dominance that Nebraska needs to regain in the recruiting world and that isn't going to happen under the current coaching staff.

Nebraska football fell when the identity was shredded with the hire of Callahan and that all started when the Chancellor was hired.

The Chancellor is out the door this summer. SE, the AD, will be out the door and replaced by Trev Alberts that has hired national championship coaches at his current AD job.

Nebraska needs to go back to what their real identity is and that is a heavy run based team.

When Nebraska runs for 200 yards a game, they went 14-0 the last three years. Nebraska won national titles by a dominating rushing attack that goes back to the 1970's.

Get back to having a dominating running game and in today's age do it with a spread zone read team like Ohio State and Oregon but do it with a physical, down hill blocking with the OL instead of the standing up with the first foot move that most of these teams do.

Nebraska fans care. That is the biggest reason why Nebraska will eventually return to where it belongs.

Nebraska has had 90 winning seasons in its school history.

And this is only the 3rd time since 1962 where it won't be a winning season.

At this point I think Nebraska needs a home run hire. Pelini was just a 9 win guy, he was never going to win them anything that mattered. With Ohio State where they're at, Michigan having Harbaugh, and Michigan State being near the top they're at best #4 in terms of current B1G program rankings (not all time, they'd be above Sparty in that) and that depends on where you have Wisconsin and Penn State.

I have serious doubts that Nebraska ever finds its way back into the thick of things like other proud programs have. Personally think Nebraska fans need to temper expectations.

Nebraska killed their program when they fired Solich and hired Callahan. They need to find a way to get back to the Wishbone.

Harvey Perlman killed Nebraska. Ever since he became NU chancellor he's hired 2 shitty AD's just so he could fire 2 HC's. The day he leaves his position in May 2016 should be a state holiday here in Nebraska.

frick. I wish I was born earlier so I can fully remember Nebraska's dominance. All I remember is 1997 through now which was OK until around 2002-2003 and then Callahan ruined my childhood and now Riley is bringing back those terrors I went through growing up.

Stick with it, young man.

It'll make the return to the mountaintop that much sweeter.

Even in your mediocre years, you can be proud to be a Nebraska Cornhusker.

P.S.: That was very hard to type after the vitriol spewed by Nebraska toward the Longhorns.

Nebraska fans need to back away from the ganja. If you think all those coaches were interested and you ended up with mike Riley then y'all will probably turn down John gruden for Mark Hudspeth this time

I think Gus Bradley would be a great fit he has some vague ties to Nebraska having worked under Bohl and Kiffin

There's no cities within 200 miles of Lincoln. That's why.

No shite. There's nothing at ALL within 500 miles of Lincoln, much less other power football programs. That's not a good thing.

Nebraska's glory years came from getting in partial and non-qualifiers from the coasts during a time that Nebraska was one of a few teams broadcast on TV regularly while Nebraska got in all the in-state talent without having to use athletic scholarships on them thanks to the "County Scholarship Program".

So three big fundemental changes have occured:

1. Nebraska isn't one of only a few teams that gets televised anymore. As such, they can't recruit nationally anywhere near like they used to.
2. No more partial and non-qualifiers that other schools couldn't admit.
3. No more "County Scholarships" so Nebraska has to abide by the scholarship limit.

These are structural issues. Not coaching related.

Last year I really thought John Paul Johnson at GT would be a homerun hire at Nebraska. Maybe not so much now.

With that being said would he be any worse than the current guy? He would be running a system completely different than the rest of the conference and with the O-linemen he could pull in at Nebraska that offense could be filthy. I'm not sure what type of recruiter he is, but I would think it would be hard to bring folks into the Atl. Surely he could do better at Nebraska.

Just my 2 cents FWIW.

He called the AD office repeatedly but the brain dead AD wouldn't take his call.

The Utah coach did want the job.

The hire that this brain dead AD made will go down as one of the worst hires in college football history.

Personally, I would like to bring in Scott Frost as our head coach.

he will make rookie mistakes as a first time head coach, but there aren't many coaches out there that I would trust with an offense more than Scott Frost.

Defensive head coaching hires don't pan out as well as innovative offensive mind head coaching hires.

Nebraska can't risk a first time HC. They need buzz a guy like Gus Bradley would give you that. Its much easier to find young innovative OC than it is to find a young innovative DC.
