I’m very confused on this take. Have LSU fans not seen what coordinators to HC have done to the league? Arguably the best coaches today were all coordinators at their previous job

Instead they’d rather a G5 guy which is known to flop

Do you understand how retarded your takes are?

A guy who has been a successful HC at two spots: not good enough

Guy who has been a successful Defensive Coordinator for 9 games, not even in College: Perfect

I am all about Sheppard. Repair the damage Kelly did with the ex players

If he can run a successful program, recruiting will be a force. Go play for some pasty white boomer or a young black former NFL coach, where is the SEC talent going to go to?

Get a Gus type of former HC turned OC to help with the BS that comes with being a HC at an SEC school. shite get O as a recruiting coordinator, we know his broke arse needs the money

It’s a swing and might be terrible but it won’t come with a 50 million dollar buyout.

Can you read moron? I never endorsed Sheppard. However, since you want to be retarded, do you want me to list the coaches that were previous coordinators with no HC experience? Kirby smart, Lanning, Ryan Day, Freeman, Keys, Clark, and Kilani Sitake.

Why did I list those coaches? Hmmmmm all in the top 12. Guess those retards should’ve hired Billy Napier and other G5 guys. Oh wait.

P5 guys > head coach of fricking Troy Christ

If Kelvin really wants to Coach at LSU, then come coach LB's and maybe help Blake Baker find a scheme to stop running QB's!

Why would an NFL DC come be a college position coach

Who is this? There's no one that fits that bill that is attainable

No crap. Kelvin only starting coaching…at all…in like 2020 and has only ever been a LB coach until a few months ago.

We don’t even really know how he’ll be as a DC yet. He’s NEVER coached in college, never had to manage a team…

He WAAAAAAAAY to inexperienced. This isn’t some seasoned coordinator that has been studying at the feet of an established HC for years.

Pasty white boomer coach? Like Saban? Or maybe Cignetti?

Alright but I want you to report here when Shep becomes a successful coach elsewhere.

Maybe he will be, but he's far too green for the LSU job. No program equivalent to LSU, such as UF, would consider him either. If he becomes a college head coach, it'll be at a smaller program.

I know. He’s the typical boomer basher on here. Just using them as examples.

This is my take on Joe Brady as well. Obviously he's got a great mind for football, but he has zero head coaching experience.

We need to stop with this mentality that we need to hire people just because they coached here before as well.

No matter how much college converges on pro from a structural standpoint, it's still not the same. There are more politics involved and I would say that there is a slim chance that a pro coach will even work out in college these days.

But pump the brakes, the hell if LSU is hiring a coach with Zero HC experience.

What makes LSU better than

Georgia
Ohio State
Notre Dame
Oregon
Oklahoma

Etc??

Every time we are searching for a coach its the same , we are not a place to learn to be a HC, shite. What makes you people think LSU is so special that we cant lower ourselves to do something a lot of other big time schools do every coaching cycle.

My comment was not specifically about Sheppard.

Kelvin has 2 options. Move up the pro ranks to become a pro head coach. That’s my guess as to what he will do. He will eventually get a head job in maybe 5-10 years. If he wants to coach college he could become a defensive coordinator at a high level college program like LSU with no problem. After this he could eventually take a head coaching job at a smaller college program and work his way up. That’s probably 5-10 years away from being a head coach at a major program. It’s what Kelvin decides to do. If he wants college he has to leave the pros soon.

This is a stupid point. Stud HS players are thinking about NFL paydays, which means they want to hitch their wagon to the coach that gets them there. I'd bet some would even trust a successful older pasty white coach over a younger black coach the vast majority of the time. I won't go into specifics.

Well former nfl player and coach would know nothing about what it takes to get to the league

“At this point in his career” - he’s 39 years old… you think this is his last stop for the rest of his career?

Lanning, yeah unlikely cause of Oregon/nike

Saban - yeah, no shite. You gotta at least mention him though.
