I thought Haywood was a good recruiter?

I hope Lance Guidry does not get left behind here. Janzen said "daddy, you need a job daddy."

*pours one out for Dave Wannstedt*
Thank you for the national title, I won't forget you and how you looked like you were about to smack a ref with those crutches when they were trying to give West Virginia the win.

WVU's a much better job than Pitt. Better pay, facilities, fan support and recruiting ties. Lots more kids from the DMV and FLA are willing to go to WVU than Pitt, and WVU is just as strong in PA. Also, the athletic department there is historically very supportive of coaches.

Wow, what a terrible hire IMO.
Guy will probably win the national championship because I said that, though.

I still don't understand why Holgerson would take a HCIW at WVU over the HC job at Pitt.
Better recruiting base, not to mention he's only the HCIW for one year. Ol Bill is going to retire after 11.

This is the most odd off season head coaching change up to this point and is an example of what is wrong in major college football. How do you fire a coach that has won 26 games in the last 3 years at Pitt.... at Pitt?
How do you fire a guy that just won 10 games last year at again..... at Pitt? The guy went
15-4 in the last 3 years in the Big East and was one game away from going to a BCS bowl this year. Wannstedt won 68% of his games the last 3 years. I just don't understand the justification of firing someone that has recruited very well, won quiet a few games of late, has you competing for the Big East Title each of the last 3 years, taking you to bowl games and replacing him for a coach that just had his 1st winning season as a head coach at Miami (OH).
How is this hire an upgrade from what they already had?

I don't know that its a "terrible hire", just a reach, and it's highly questionable as to whether Haywood will be better than the 'Stache.
Bottom line is, unless they had a real superstar tee'd up, they should have given Wanny more time. He would have run through a brick wall for that school, and did have moderate success.
It's not like the program was falling apart. Its Pitt, for crying out loud, not Penn St.

$$$$$
Better support too.
the WV is not quite "HCIW", which can turn into a long long wait, its a one year transition.
