Boise coaches traditionally underachieve away from the blue turf. Maybe he'll break the mold, who knows.

It will be if Boise or NIU gets to 16 as AQ
Auto Qualifiers:
Notre Dame
SEC Champ
B1G Champ
Big XII
ACC Champ
PAC-12 Champ
Big East Champ
Boise/NIU

Due to one of last two being ranked higher than B1G Champ.

So an at-large, probably the Big XII second bid or the Clemson bid will be stolen.

Oh I see what you are saying now

quote:

Automatic qualification
1. The top two teams in the final BCS Standings shall play in the National Championship Game.

2. The champions of the Atlantic Coast, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, and Southeastern conferences will have automatic berths in one of the participating bowls through the 2013 regular season.

3. The champion of Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, or the Western Athletic Conference will earn an automatic berth in a BCS bowl game if either:

A. Such team is ranked in the top 12 of the final BCS Standings, or,
B. Such team is ranked in the top 16 of the final BCS Standings and its ranking in the final BCS Standings is higher than that of a champion of a conference that has an annual automatic berth in one of the BCS bowls.

No more than one such team from Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, and the Western Athletic Conference shall earn an automatic berth in any year. (Note: a second team may be eligible for at-large eligibility as noted below.) If two or more teams from those conferences satisfy the provisions for an automatic berth, then the team with the highest finish in the final BCS Standings will receive the automatic berth, and the remaining team or teams will be considered for at-large selection if it meets the criteria.

4. Notre Dame will have an automatic berth if it is in the top eight of the final BCS Standings.

No. K-State is the Big12 Champ.

that could possibly throw a monkey wrench in things, but I have a feeling the AD at BSU, if petersen is indeed our coach, has known about it for a while. Hence the orangeblood rumors of him reaching out to former assistants to coach BSU. I do not know if the NCAA would allow Petersen to recruit for us and go to a BCS bowl but with the powers that be behind us we can get anything done.

The voters are not going to push Boise into the #16 spot or NIU since they lost their coach today.

They didn't beat the teams needed for the computers to bump them up to needed spots.

moot topic.

Yeah, but I still think he would be a good hire though. If it comes down to he or Patterson, I wouldnt be upset with either choice if I were you guys.

I would lean Patterson (if I had choice) but would be extremely happy with Petersen they are 1a and 1b.

Pellini would be like 5c

7th season as HC, 7th season with at least 10 wins.

83-8 with 5 conference championships, the other 2 years came in 2nd.

Sadly this. Coaches and Harris voters would have to bump NIU up to about #12 in their polls for the computer avg. to get NIU up to 16. I'm pretty sure Doeren leaving will shave a couple slots off the votes.

Do you feel like he can win recruiting battles in the SECW? Honest question

Tough transition from coaching up 2 and 3 stars to beating SECW schools for the 4s and 5s

Great scheme coach, but he would need a strong SEC experienced staff to get going. He would definitely need a frank Wilson type guy on staff. Preferably a Texas frank Wilson type
