Man I love when betting websites put out these fun prop bets.
I remember seeing one for Saban to Texas at like 7/2 and I laughed my arse off.

From a Florida news site
This is the key factor IMO. The former AD was the one along with Carr that had a hard on for Miles. The interm AD and Miles are cool.
quote:
Les Miles, LSU coach. Miles has been one of the most successful coaches in the country during his 10 years with the Tigers. He is 103-28 with a national championship and another title game appearance. The last two times the Michigan job was open, Miles came up as a possible candidate. Things are different this time around, from the people making the decisions to the people influencing those decisions. The 61-year-old Miles, who makes over $4 million per season, he has spent 10 years being under-appreciated at LSU. Maybe it's time to go somewhere he would be embraced?

The interim AD and Miles were teammates at UM.

Right.
And I think miles is their number 1 target this time around. The media frenzy around Jim is just that, a media frenzy. Don't get me wrong there are many that want Jim but I think the AD only has eyes for Miles.

Floating $8mm for harbaugh is a PR play, it isn't real. They float that knowing he won't come and when they hire someone else they can say they had $8mm on the table and Harbaugh said no. Even though it is total BS
Harbaugh's agent is using the Michigan "offer" as a bargaining chip with the teams he is negotiating with. Probably the Raiders
Heard an interesting rumor on the radio:
NFL brokers a trade between the 49ers and Raiders for Harbaugh
Raiders give Harbaugh roster control
NFL allows Raiders to move to LA
Value of Raiders goes through the roof
Davis family agrees to sell the Raiders
NFL brokers an ownership deal with high profile LA based owner
NFL is rid of the Davis family forever
Harbaugh becomes the centerpiece of the "new" LA Raiders
There are three teams that can readily leave their stadium deals: Raiders, Rams and Chargers
Raiders and Rams share the Colisseum until Kroenke builds his new stadium in Inglewood. New Raiders owner brokers deal to refurb LA Colisseum. NFL gets an NFC and an AFC team in the #2 media market

All I heard was that If Michigan asks permission/says anything publicly, it would mean Les has already accepted. Cameron would more than likely go with him as apparently he has no chance to succeed Les.

When did Michigan offer?

so you're in the "Michigan has never offered Miles a job" camp

I'm a bit torn on the issue. LSU could do much worse than Miles. I also think they could do better. Miles frustrates me to no end but I recognize he's been very successful in his tenure here (overshadowed by the midget to the east).
At this point I feel like LSU is being held back by Miles insistence on featuring an archaic offense rooted in 0 quarterback development. The full potential of LSU football is there...Miles can either get out of the way and let talent do its thing or he can continue to limit it and get by on 10-3 while being Alabama's bitch.
Like I said, Les has proven to be a very good coach. If he walks, you risk turning into a Florida or a Michigan with mediocre coaching hires that you end up paying to go away.

Yeah and I have a lot of company.
Who offered? Brandon? The same guy that said "Over my dead body" when it came to Les?

Trey says Les was solicited in '07, but Bill Martin was on a sailboat and everything got fricked up. I still say Les could never have left once LSU got into the championship game. Trey says there was no offer in '11. A guy who I worked with has some connections to Brandon and says Les was flat out offered in '11 and refused (basically due to wife/family). But, that guy can be full of shite and I think Brandon wanted Hoke all along -- that any meeting was for appearances to make it look like Brandon was shopping around, and Les was happy to oblige because it gets him more money at LSU.

I think the reality is that he was never offered the job.
