No confirmation on this from UCLA, but one LA Times reporter, citing unnamed sources familiar with the search, says that after being turned down by Chris Peterson, Al Golden has risen to the top of UCLA's search list.

He just signed an extension through 2020. Don't think that he's leaving.

UCLA might end having the most embarassing coaching search in the history of NCAA football.
They need to go get Herm Edwards and stick by him for 6 years minimum. They've got a ton of culture changing to do at that school if they want to be relevant in football.

if they were smart they would go after sumlin, tx ties, and he might do it......A&M will go after Briles, they just better get him before Tx does, M Brown will be gone soon...

LA's a star town. He's animated, he seems like he would be well received by boosters, I think HS kids would like to play for him, he didn't seem to be outcoached on X's & O's in the NFL that bad, he's got a pretty wife that TMZ will love, he can handle the pressure and attention, he will change the attitude of the program, and as long as he can hire really good coaches and recruit his tail off, then he can go glad hand boosters and tell riveting stories and use his ESPN connections for air time and to market UCLA football.
Herm would be my guy. UCLA doesn't need someone that might get stage fright, they need a coach who will accept it and use the big stage to his advantage.

Wow. I think UCLA is overestimating its place in the football world.

A name to keep in mind: Mike Bellotti, ex-coach of Oregon. Some writer for the LA Times floated his name as a possibility. Bellotti is 60, but supposedly he wants to get back into coaching. When the UCLA AD comes back down to earth, Bellotti might end up being the guy.

They almost need a Paul-Johnson-like gimmick guy to compete with SC.

One problem UCLA has that you wouldn't think they'd have is money. UCLA has never been a school that could(maybe would is a better word) pay a ton for a coach. It seems they are trying to get a little more money this time but they're also going after guys that wouldn't take a ton to sign. They'll never have a guy like Meyer,Saban etc that makes 4-5 mil a year.

Latest from the LA Times:
Kevin Sumlin is out "after meeting with UCLA officials" (translated: he tol them thanks, but no thanks)
Al Golden is lookng "less likely."
The search has now turned to..... Jim Mora Jr.

Having Dan Guerrero like you shouldn't be taken as a compliment. The fact that the guy still has a job is mindblowing
