Man, they should have fired him right at the end of the year. Les Miles would crush there.

Wow.

He went 15-10 in two full seasons with two bowl games. That's not really that bad for a program like Houston. Talk about ridiculous expectations.

Houston thinks they should be on the level with Texas and A&M because they're stupid.

No he sucked. Go look at his record. Also, he clearly lost control of his team this year.

2016

2017

2018

1-1 vs SMU
1-1 vs Tulsa
1-1 vs Tulane
0-2 vs Texas Tech

= GTFO

Les interviewed for Houston last time IIRC, they didn’t want him

Maybe, but they can do better than Applewhite. He’s not good.

Its not like he's set the world on fire at Houston. By all accounts he isn't recruiting well and they just took the worst arse kicking in bowl history.

You fire a mediocre head coach. At Houston its not a bad return on your investment because if you are going to be good enough to get that invite to the Big 12 you need a great coach.

It was a lazy hire to begin with. They should've hired Kiffin then instead.

No, but it's still dumb. This is the type of action that might turn off the type of higher level candidates they want. Holgo ain't getting fired at freaking West Virginia if he goes 15-10 in two years.

Major Applewhite is the Jason Garrett of college.

Both were labeled a future HC while still playing. They had short stints under Saban. Both are offensive coaches, but aren’t known as great or innovative minds offensively.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was more to it than just his coaching. Remember, he got banished form Texas b/c his moron arse was having sex with a student trainer (while his wife was home pregnant BTW).
