I agree. I love Pelini but now we need some young blood to hit the trail. Still a little shocked we let meatball walk. Not crazy about him but he was our best Texas recruiter, wtf

I wonder if he tries to get Terry Joseph to join him at LSU.

elite defenses that stop everyone they play ended a couple years ago with Bama. Offenses seemed to have progressed too much.

I wish people would quit saying this. Alabama found an offense 5 years ago and LSU found one this year and, all of a sudden, defense is dead? 2019 Georgia, Clemson, Ohio St., and Florida all had defenses that compare to anything in 2011 except Alabama. And the total defense of three of those teams is affected by having played the greatest offense in the history of college football.

And all of those with the exception of Ohio State got assrammed by a great offense anyway. And OSU was lucky enough to avoid the wrath.

The days of being contenders with a 9-6 level offense are over. You need a defense that can make stops and turnovers, but expecting to never give up points is too much to ask.

Not in 2020. If LSU wants a coach, they will hire them. Worrying about asst coach pay is a "10 year ago" thing. Pelini making 2 mil will have no effect on who we hire as our DL coach or PGC.

So you are saying its a pride thing for fans to brag/make fun of other programs for?

Well yea.

If you read this site at all you see where we make fun of the money Aggie pays.

All had good defenses, no doubt. Their numbers are representative of their schedule. They would all be closer to our numbers, had they played our schedule. For example, would you have taken San Diego State’s defense over ours?

Aranda didn’t even field a top 20 defense

The “Aranda is a genius” crowd acts like LSU had a dominant defense under his watch.

Aranda was good, not great and did not produce what you would expect while making more than any other college assistant. If LSU had not had a great offense this year, we may have been in the Outback Bowl.

He did more with some of the worst DLs LSU had since Saban.

If you look at who he had actually on the field most games it was incredible.

People bitched non stop about Brick being a shitty DL recruiter but they forget that he left that mess on Aranda’s doorstep.

Lol. Aranda didn’t even field
A top 20 d for 2.5 million this past year in total d. You people I swear. Lmao.

I don't mind the Bo hire, but you continuing to this is annoying.

Aranda finished the season ranked 6th in 3rd down D. That is ahead of just about any elite DC you can name. Including Clemson.

Since the Ole Miss game there was no better DC.

Stats like overall D totals are not as valuable to me as 3rd down D or even scoring D. The reason is because of the scheduled played and score differentials.

What does it matter if LSU wants to rest key defensive guys in a game like Vandy and they have no desire to tackle? The game was never in doubt. Why risk anything? To have better garbage stats?

In the Alabama and Ole Miss game I feel like Delpit's injury was responsible for a lot of that scoring. He was really limited in movement and looked much slower than usual. The Ole Miss game was never in doubt btw. LSU still won by 3 tds and could have won by 4tds if they wanted.

Since that Ole Miss game, there was no better DC in college football.

What Aranda did in the playoffs against 2 of the very best offenses in football was phenomenal. You can't begin to put a price on that. He earned every bit of it when it mattered most. He held a&m, who we hate, to 7 freaking points. He forced Clemson to like what, 1 of 11 on 3rd down?

There is no way any other coordinator tops that. That was unheard of.. Lawrence had 0 TD passes. Seems impossible.

The QB everybody claims is the greatest talent around..

I would rather have a guy like Aranda than a guy who puts up a top 20 defense but blows it in the SEC championship or playoffs.. because what good does it matter???

Overall rankings do not tell the full story and you are ignorant to continue to spout this nonsense in hopes to make Aranda look unjustified of his contract.

Aranda was elite this season given everything. Given who they played, what they had to deal with and when it mattered most.

I don't care if LSU paid him 3 million. He won them a Natty.

If Bo came in and fielded a top 5 defense, but a Lawrence or a Hurts-like QB scored and converted all day long on him and we lost.. then I would not be more pleased just because oh we had a top 5 overall D..

Every other fan base said OU and Clemson would run all over us. They kept using stats like overall D or pointing to a couple of games that didn't matter..

Etienne didn't even get 100 yards rushing and Lawrence had Zero passing TDs.

Show me anyone else who does that combined to them, please. Find me another DC who can do that. Ohio St couldn't.

EVERYBODY said Ohio St had a better D than us. Lawrence had 2 tds passing, Etienne had 98 yards rushing with 2 tds as well.

What LSU did on D was even more impressive, because they had such offensive success. It's one thing if you are playing ball control. Clemson had several opportunities.

Aranda was elite and you need to deal with the fact he earned his 2.5 million. Again, he was better than Venables who probably makes the 2nd most money?

Not only was he better. He was far superior.

You have said LSU should have let Aranda go to a&m. That very well could have cost LSU the natty. Everybody questioned this D and Aranda turned it on when it mattered most.

You can't sit here and argue LSU was wrong to make him the top paid DC after what he just did. His 3rd down D was too good.

There is no better payoff for a coach then when you win a championship.. and his defense was the most important part the last 3 game post-season. Nobody was better.
