Heard Pate say multiple times that he owes his success to the 19' LSU team and that LSU being good is what's best for CFB. Also, an "aligned" LSU is a scary thing for the rest of the SEC.

He was all about Florida until recently. There’s just too much smoke. It’s clear he’s leaving OM, otherwise the extension would be done. I think he’s just trying to angle it to be able to keep coaching his boys into the playoffs. Which as LSU fan, I’m fine with as long as it’s common knowledge that he’s coming.
