Florida officials remain engaged with Chip Kelly about becoming the next football coach of the Gators, but the school is preparing to widen its search, multiple sources told Yahoo Sports.

Florida and Kelly are believed to have been in contact throughout the month of November, sources said, starting soon after the school parted ways with Jim McElwain on Oct. 29. Talks between the two parties culminated in a meeting in New Hampshire on Sunday that was attended by university president Kent Fuchs, athletic director Scott Stricklin and other Florida officials. That meeting has not yet resulted in an agreement.

Kelly is the school’s top candidate for the job, and the coach has taken his time to engage in a deliberate evaluation of Florida. But with other potential candidates becoming available for discussion this weekend, Florida officials appear to be ready to move on shortly after Thanksgiving if a deal has not been struck with Kelly.

sounds like Chip told them he's headed to UCLA & they are trying to get out in front of it.

I think pretty much everyone agrees that if nothing is done by Sunday/Monday then it is bad sign on Kelly and we'd have to consider other candidates.

This is where the AD says we don’t negotiate and hires the interim coach, right?

His sources doen't seem all that connected. They don't know how long UF has been in contact with Kelly and say UF "appears" ready to move on. Forde and his sources aren't exactly coming from a place of certainty.

Kelly to UCLA or ATM or UF or ASU

If UF does not get him under contract by Saturday all bets are off.

We're preparing to widen our search for the analysts that will staff Kelly's informatics department

All bets are already off UF does not have a signature from Kelly as far as we know, that means Kelly can do whatever he wants and owes UF nothing. If we flew our president to New Hampshire like what was reported and came back without a signature, Kelly ain't coming to Florida.

They should. That's smart negotiating.

Use other offers against the Kelly camp to force his hand one way or the other.

Problem is Kelly is the one with the leverage, not UF.

Gator contingent that flew to NH should have stayed in a motel and not left without him.

What are they going to do.....remind Kelly that they have Randy Shannon in the bag along with Charlie Strong? This could end badly for UF.

Sounds like they don't have him.

You can put it out there that you're going to move on without actually saying it and hanging up on the guy like Alleva did.

They do have to have a plan B. That doesn't require them slamming the door on plan A but they have to be able to close in on B as soon as possible.

Not having a plan B is how you end up with Orgeron.
