The buzz is heavy with LSU and Riley right now.
There has been zero talk with the team and you know if we are hearing and reading this, so are they. That could be a problem as we get closer to the Bedlam game.
Riley needs to squash this stuff and I can tell you at the time of this post he has not. I’m also hearing buzz about Riley and LSU talking. I can’t confirm that, but through a few sources, it’s not been denied and that is at least something to watch.
Lastly, I still lean toward him staying but my confidence in that has waned a bit with the strong buzz from LSU and how quiet it has been in Norman at least has created some pause with me.
I will add that there is a Board of Regents meeting scheduled for next Friday on December 3rd with OU. Could an extension for Riley be in the works? That’s very possible.
Look, I’m not here to make you all flip out or say Riley is leaving. At this time, I’m not thinking that to be the case, but I do want to at least open up to the possibility and not write it completely off.
You don’t want to be caught with your pants down so here I am addressing these rumors head on. If I can gather anything substantial I will update you all, but sources I talk to in Norman don’t seem to think he is leaving. Their confidence isn’t as strong as LSU and Riley going there, but we have a lot of digging to do before I jump into it being me believing it to be the case. (Stopped this at 410pm after talking with @impactor88).

My gut says he stays still, but this thing has been more than interesting the last 24hrs. The buzz around those in the world coaching is that this went from “not likely to happen” to “he has been contacted. That is as much as we know. If it wasn’t a real thing, telling the players and staffers would be wise because they read Twitter and everything else like we do,” the source around Norman said.

The real question is if an offered has been extended. My gut and people I have talked with say yes. Does that mean Riley is leavings? Not at all. But we have said we will continue to watch this and we mean it.

I don’t expect anything to happen tomorrow before the game, but I also didn’t expect this to become like this and to have random Twitter people stir this up even more. That is why we are here and how it got to this point to begin with.

I have been on the phone with so many people tonight. I have talked to Parker, sources around Norman, sources in the agent realm that I know and a few others on the beat to compare notes. This has been poor timing as I am now heading to watch Hamilton in Dallas before I head back for Bedlam tomorrow.

If I get anything prior to the game tomorrow, we will update you all. But this has been one of the weirder things I have covered over the years and would be shocking if Riley left.
