I wanted Marcus Freeman to be the DC just as much as anyone else, but the sky is not falling. There’s still plenty of high quality proven candidates out there.
Zach Arnett Mississippi State DC
Glenn Schumann UGA Co-DC
David Reeves UAB DC
Jeremy Pruitt (If he gets fired at Tennessee)
Any of these guys would be home runs as well and have just as good and in some cases better track records than Freeman has.

Schumann could very well be a great hire and I like him a lot he’s at the top of my list, but those other guys have proven more than him to this point. There’s absolutely no reason for anybody to not want any of those guys unless you really care about the potential recruiting violations from Pruitt but that’s it. Leonhard is the best DC in the country. Reeves has fielded 4 Top 10 defenses at UAB of all places. Arnett had top defenses at SDSU before coming to State where he had success this year and is worshipped by their fan base.

The overall positivity of our fan base at the idea of hiring freeman just makes losing him hurt that much more

I've been out the loop, what happened to Bo Pelini? I know the defense wasn't #1 in the nation, but damn, did he even have his office set up how he likes it?

I'm not familiar with Reeves, but is he a minority? The hire is going to be a minority, that's certain.

Sure I would’ve loved Freeman but some people here need to get a grip. He is not going to make or make our program and if he does, then here’s clearly bigger problems than a lack of a DC.
