Isn’t the job of the head coach to recruit players to make his team better and to hire good assistants?
Why does Orgeron not get credit for doing so?
this guy agrees with you

If I misinterpreted your tone when you said he “caught lightening in a bottle with Burrow and Brady”, then I apologize.
In my world, people use that language to suggest a near miracle. If that’s not what you meant, then I apologize.
Orgeron has done a great job, I agree. I don’t need anyone else to validate that for me.
I apologize if I seemed defensive, but please step back and be objective. You guys and most other fan bases have been condescending, arrogant, snarky, and disrespectful at every turn not just this year, but in recent years. It feels a lot like, and I could be wrong, but it sure seems that A1abama fans and aggy fans love to “troll” endlessly, but when LSU fans give it back after earning the right to do so, you guys play the “why so sensitive” card.
We love our team and school the same as y’all do yours. A little advice....if you’re gonna come to an LSU based site and throw jabs or troll or make snarky innuendos, then please be secure enough to take the same interaction from LSU fans without receiving it as the need for validation.
It’s all in good fun as far as I’m concerned. We take more than our share, just look at the sec rant lol. Aggy fans have trolled endlessly bc they stole a game at home and it took em 7 overtimes to do it, but they couldn’t be any more proud. You guys have given us 8 years of shite.
Consider all that and try to understand my eagerness to defend our coach against asinine innuendo such as “he caught lightening in a bottle”.
Burrow was hardly viewed the same last year. Orgeron and staff implemented a new scheme and developed him within that scheme. That’s coaching. That was Orgerons decision. It wasn’t an accident or luck.
Thanks for reading and thanks for visiting our site. Happy Holidays!

Good post. Again, O has done a great job. I am too old to start endless trolling threads . I will throw a jab if one has been thrown first from time to time . I wished we could have normal conversations on these boards but it just turns sour and trolling g at every turn with little actual discussion or information . But I think you should also step back and be objective because if there is one fan base that has endless trolling on this site , it is LSU. It is mostly good natured fun and I can take good natured humor after losing a game such as to LSU this year but to me the Tua injury was way over the top . There were a lot of genuine LSU fans who sent out prayers and called out others for their posts but most were

I hear you man. The trolling gets old. I’m too old for that lol. The sad part is when you meet folks in person most are good people
Not sure why people feel the need to be assholes on message boards.
Anyhow, yes I agree about Tua. I hated to see that for him. It’s a horrible injury and I’m sorry you’ve had a negative experience with LSU fans about that. Certainly that’s crossing a line and the vast majority of us wouldn’t do that

Oh yea. Like you say most are good people in all fan bases. Met several LSU fans this year at the game. Had a few drinks, congratulated them after the win , no problems ...... you know , normal human interaction
.
Happy Holidays to you and good luck the rest of the way

Woody just a big check writer to this point. Let’s see if he’s capable of setting precedent with a guy who will never leave on his own accord. Shouldn’t be that hard.

If LSU is smart, they will learn from other teams' mistakes. Auburn gave Chizik a big raise and buyout that left them paying him $11 Million+ after it was clear that when both Newton and Malzhan left, they were clearly the reason for the success. You can't luck into Burrow's consistently, and there is no guarantee that Brady stays at LSU very long if he is truly as good as many seem to think.
O needs to prove this isn't about Burrow and Brady just being a great fit and working out for him with unique circumstances for Bama being down (relatively speaking) and having the right pieces in place for this year.
You give him a reasonable contract for both sides with limited buyout either way.
O will have earned the new contract, but the security should be limited until he proves this year isn't just a fluke. We saw what happened with Miles, and even Archer in the late 80's/early 90's for God's sake.

There is not a single job he would leave for around the country. He loves it there. Having said that, there is not another high profile job around the country that will come calling for O either
I agree 100%, though you will get many of my fellow LSU fan vehemently disagreeing with that sentiment. Even if LSU wins the NC this year O's demand won't be significant, "significant" being schools willing to pay him huge money AND where he has the same amount of resources to be as successful as he's been thus far at LSU. Perhaps USC (because of his history there) would be the only potential opening he could use to try to leverage LSU, but I doubt anyone seriously thinks he would leave a national championship contending program in LSU to rebuild USC. Maybe more than anything else, Ed LOVES being a hero in Louisiana
LSU couldn't be in a better situation. They have a coach who right now has his program performing at a potential championship level, but who doesn't have much demand from the other potential power-brokers in the sport. LSU can continue to pay Ed a reasonable salary (not anything close to the Saban, Harbaugh, Fisher salaries) and spread the "savings" throughout the program (assistants, analysis, recruiting budget, etc.)

I’d bet it’s 6M a year for five years. More money for down line assts. LSU would be dumb to commit to anything beyond 5.

I hope we keep him on a incentive laden contract
Posted on 11/21/19 at 10:47 pm to FearlessFreep
I would give him a slight bump in pay for sure but I wouldn't go crazy on it until he stings together a few good seasons. If he has another great year next year he can write his check for any amount he wants

I hope that LSU offers him a salary commensurate with the top HCs in the country - but with a zero buyout both ways. Instead, offer him the kind of deal that Bob Stoops had at Oklahoma a few years ago - a loyalty bonus for remaining HC at the school on a certain future date.
One good thing for CEO. He has a low ego factor. He has been willing to take less money to have more for his staff. However, his contract is highly incentivised. Every game he wins from here on out in 6 more figures in his pocket. He started getting incentives at 10 wins and will get more each step. Additionally, for every post season game he gets money for making the game and more for winning that game.
BTW, many schools are looking at the "Orgeron Model" for new coaches this year. Some are seeing value to paying HC less and coordinators more and maintaining some stability.

If I were Coach O and USC called me I’d straight up say, “ naw bruh y’all had y’all’s chance. That ship has sailed”. Orgeron deserved that USC head coaching gig but the stuck up, snobby, Los Angeles wanna be elites looked down on O’s demeanor and personality.

Hey moron. He recruited Burrow just like Dabo recruited Lawrence and Watson and little Nicky recruited Hurts and Tua and Riley recruited Hurts to come to OU and Jimbo recruited Winston. And moron he hired Brady from the Saints after doing his home work. Just like he recruited a no name kicker from Assumption college that no one else wanted. You moron.
