It's about time he goes to a real school with green grass...I won't be sold on him until he does...and wins.

Yeah, because it's so much easier beating those Top Teams OOC with Boise's talent compared to Texas.

How's Utah done in a real conference?

I really don't feel like getting into a Boise debate

when some one at a non AQ has one great season, i can see people being skeptical, but come on. He's beating a "lesser" schedule" with "lesser" talent.

Think any recruits he signs were even recruited by Texas/LSU/Alabama/USC etc?

It's not a Boise debate. It's about his coaching ability.

And please don't recycle the "gear up for one big game" argument. My high school team could gear up for 3 years and we're not beating the SEC champs.

He takes kids no one else really wants and has beaten teams with superior athletes.

He gets his players to over-achieve - which is also why they blow though their conference schedule. It's not like he's playing the Mountain West with Bama talent.

Who would have thought that within a span of 3-4 years that USC, Florida, Ohio State, and Texas would all have to hire new coaches?

Fine...and I'm entitled to not be sold on him. It's just my opinion. He's done great things at Boise, no doubt. But, I need to see him at a real school in a big time conference before I can consider him a great coach.

I'm sure people were saying the same thing about Urban Meyer.

I'm not saying Petersen would/will have that kind of success, but it's an interesting parallel.

Lots of great coaches come from smaller schools. I just don't consider them great until they prove it. Maybe he will, maybe he won't...we'll see.
