We were terrible in the BigXII. We may not have had LSU'S recent success but two top 5 finishes, a Heisman and a potential #1 recruiting class are beyond anything we could have imagined in the BigXII.
OU may have a rude awakening because they're used to beating up teams with far inferior talent. Texas was the only school that compared talent wise but they have been a dysfunctional mess for over a decade. The SEC has at least five schools with talent advantages over OU.

Arkansas has been to the SEC championship game more than several OG SEC members have.
Ole Miss
Vandy
Kentucky
It's not shocking those three have never been to Atlanta

But yet everyone is jerking each other off over the thought of Lincoln Riley. So you want to give him the same schedule as Arkansas and expect much better results? LSU doesn't have that much of a talent advantage over Oklahoma most years.
Actually yes, they do. Especially on defense.
Just imagine if LSU always had a QB around the caliber of all of Riley's QBs.

They will become Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska - no recruiting base in any of these states

OU will continue to be elite. The new SEC West pecking order will be...
LSU & OU
Texas Pick'em
Mississippi Pick'em
Ozark Pick'em...

Unsure about dropping to an Arkansas level but a definite step back.
Riley to LSU is great to a certain extent and honestly a great hire for the league. LSU would be ecstatic but the rest of the current west really don’t have a real reason to be intimidated. They have been facing the goat for over a decade and LSU will continue to be good as usual. This hire would be the most detrimental to the additions of OU and Texas. OU would be thrown into a transition not only league wise but program wise. It would take a few years to get settled. Texas is straight struggling due to their internal issues and looks to stay that way for a few more seasons. As a current institution of the SEC and member of the west division what is the real downfall or threat if Riley goes to LSU? IMO it’s a win-win for the current folks.
