I spoke to a few sources around Norman that were adamant that Riley wasn't going anywhere. One source cited Riley's promise to a few big-name recruits and players on campus now where he stated he wasn't going anywhere for a while.
So, it’s obvious he talked to a couple of recruits. I’m shocked Lincoln didn’t mention anything about the possibility of him leaving.
His “adamant” sources were high school kids or their parents.

Tate can’t say a damn thing about how TAF spends its money. he can beg and plead that’s it

No I'm not an lsu alum. I went to one of the smaller in state universities, so no, don't know about that. However, I have heard from many sources, that this is Woodward's hire to make and his alone. For all his flaws in other areas, I think Tate is a sports guy and understands how important it is to a place like lsu.

Love the OU insider placing so much emphasis on what LR has told recruits. I'm sure all coaches considering a move are all honest and up front with their soon to be former school's recruits.
Here's one infamous example.

I know people ignore what I type on here because it's not what people want to hear but...
Caleb Williams and his wealthy Dad Carl flat-out asked Riley if Riley was going to stay at OU for Caleb's college career. Lincoln told them yes.
Caleb and his wealthy Dad proceeded to spend a chit ton of money to host a huge recruiting weekend at OU. It was called "The Sooner Summit". They paid for recruits' plane tickets, hotels, food, etc.
Caleb's mom got an apartment in Norman.

It's really a totally different ordeal than what TT did.
I'm not saying Lincoln is staying because of Caleb but it would be a major gut punch and he would have lied to an important recruit and his family.

Sorry but that doesn’t make the slightest bit of difference. What is Carl Williams going to do besides have hurt feelings?
If he’s a wealthy person, he should know that business is business and it’s bad business to take a handshake agreement for 3 years down the road as gospel

Buddy I smell fear on you
You were once dismissing the remote possibility of this. Now you sound like a man rambling trying to convince himself everything is ok

Most of us realize the chances to LR actually coming here are remote, but the reasons you’re giving as to why are hilariously naive. That’s why people ignore what you type on here.

This is the sticking point for me. The OU guy dismissing this as “I don’t think Lincoln really cares about money” makes it sound like we offered a $100k raise. I don’t care who you are, I will question your intelligence if you turn down a guaranteed contract that doubles your salary. We’re talking several generations of wealth here.

Guess they'll kiss and make up when that baw leaves for BR Caleb can transfer with him. Nuss and Max aren't all that talented anyway Caleb could start day 1 here.

It sounded more like he didn’t believe we would offer that much.

Go to the nose doc, your smeller is broken. I have no fear and I've dismissed it today. My true thoughts on Lincoln leaving would surprise you. Let's just say I'm impartial or I don't really care. I'm here for the chaos. The fake sources, etc.

Most of you realize it's remote? Yeah, that's not true. Most LSU fans are so hopeful that they've lost their common sense today. TBL came back from his second tier graveyard last night (6:43 pm) to
Also, what reasons are you talking about?
I quoted some nimrod who used what Tuberville did while at a chit school like it's comparable to Lincoln and Caleb Williams. I didn't say that was a reason Lincoln would stay, just that it wasn't the same thing.

it's hard seeing a personality like Riley at LSU. Coaches there have different vibe to them. They enjoy the media circuit. They enjoy the donor dinners and media luncheons. None of those things are what you see Riley doing a lot of at OU and that's because he fits what OU does culturally.
Our last two coaches spanning the past nearly 18 years have been clowns. And that’s exactly why LR is a good fit here - we’re looking to change that culture.

All because of some BS from Tom Luginbill. Those tweets are now deleted because the OU program got pissed off and made the guy delete it. Luginbill won't be running his gums about the OU program any time soon.
Luginbill was asked a question on a podcast, and he said he wouldn't be surprised if Riley ended up at LSU. He even reiterated it was just his opinion. That's it.
If it's true OU got pissed off about that, they're more paranoid and insecure about Riley leaving than we think.

Luginbill suggested twice that there are things going behind the scenes at OU, like problems that would come out soon. That led him to think Lincoln would leave for LSU. It was shoddy math.
OU reached out to him and basically told him to STFU, you're wrong, etc. Tweets were deleted.

A coach is going to do what is best for him. Just like the players do what is best for them.
What if Lincoln asked Caleb Williams, "Will you be here throughout your college career and not hit the portal even if you're not the starter?"
Things change and opportunities arise.

So there is no doubt Riley is entertaining discussions and offers from LSU. He would be an absolute idiot if he didn't.
There are 2 things we know are going on.
1)Riley has full intention of staying at OU and is using this to get a new contract and raise
2)Riley is seriously weighing the possibility of going to LSU and trying to figure out if he would be better off in the long term at LSU or at OU.
At OU Riley will be safe from the fans and AD if he goes every season with an avg of 2 losses and is at least in the mix of playoffs with 1-2 losses. He might get lucky with a dynamic QB and DC and win a title or 2. Look at Stoops career there. 1 title and a few title game appearances got him almost a 20 yr career.
At LSU, making $12-$15 million/yr. There will be higher expectations when there have been 3 HC's win Titles in the same amount of time that OU has 1.
So Riley is weighing a lot of stuff. If OU goes to SEC the competition is much harder and they may struggle for a bit acclimating to the SEC and getting better recruits from SEC states.
At LSU he has LA locked down and plenty of recruiting paths into other states and it may open more paths into Texas.
So Riley is using this to get more money, whether that money is from LSU or OU, he is getting more money.
