who's going to pay Gruden next year's last installment of the Tampa Bay Buyout? Gruden is not going to coach in college football, and it's laughable to suggest otherwise. Del Rio is a tired go to name- unproven at the college level. Would rather Patterson, Peterson or Pelini.

Why wouldn't Pelini be a good pick. He's more proven than Muschamp. Anyway, I'm happy with Miles at this point.

Jeff Fisher could be a guy that would be a splash.

He is strictly an nfl guy and would have absolutely no issue getting an nfl hc job.

I want Miles to stay, but my first choice would be Patterson.

wow. you clearly then know very little about the w eaknesses miles has then. OTFD? game management? player mangement? should i continue? You think that is all on crowton? really?

Best thing about having MILES, you don't have to worry about losing him cause NOBODY wants him.

I have heard his time for getting the Michigan job has come and gone. It pissed him off when they didn't really pursue him in '07. They are so cheap waiting until Jan. to fire RR to save a million. They probably couldn't match his LSU salery.
I don't want to see him go at this time but a cat or tiger always lands on his feet. We'll be alright either way.

Patterson isn't a lock to leave for LSU, TCU is headed to the Big East an legitimate shot at a BCS title. He was offered the big bucks at Minnesota but stayed at TCU. Granted LSU is much, much, much more attractive than Minnesota...I just think Patterson is extremely happy at TCU.

Miles is going nowhere. Why leave a school where you recruited a NC caliber team to go to a school(i don't care alma mater or not)that would take you 4-5 years minimum to fix?Michigan's personnel doesn't fit Miles and he'd be stuck in the same crap RR is in.losing with RR's players and really never given the chance to put his own players and system in place.Would be career suicide for a coach already at a power. For an up and comer it's a good job but not for a guy like Miles. He'd never get a major job again after getting kicked out of Michigan.Personally feel the same way about harbaugh even though i think he'd be given more time to fix it.Harbaugh or Hoke will be their guy not Miles.

I agree with AlaTiger. We are gonna be fine with or without Les. As far as making a big splash our last 2 hires were far from big splashes. Les and Nick both arrived at LSU relatively unknown commodities.

Auburn and Gene Chizik absolutely proved you do not have to make a "splash" hire. Yeh yeh yeh go ahead and make the paid players comments all you want. But facts are facts. That team was a 5-7 program and in two years he has taken them to a national title appearance.
I would also say that Miles has proven that you don't need to make a "splash" hire. Hell people still are laughing at us for making the hire, but the fact is 80 percent winner here.
If Les were to leave, keeping Frank Wilson would be absolutely MANDATORY for the next HC.
The main problem with the football team (QB position) has been addressed. Nothing can change that. He is here already.
It has stockpiled talent and has an unbelievable class coming in. Keeping that class together is absolutely a priority as it ensures the success of the immediate future of the LSU program.
