offensive rankings when Helfrich has called plays

Helfrich has called plays at two jobs. in 1997 he was OC for 1 year at Vienna, whatever the frick that is, and then for 3 years at Colorado from 2006 - 2008.
im including 2005, the year before he got there, for a comparison.
year - scoring offense rank - total offense rank
2005 - 78th (23.46 ppg) - 87th (333.08 ypg)
2006 - 107th (16.33 ppg) - 102nd (291.42 ypg)
2007 - 62nd (27.31 ppg) - 72nd (378.54 ypg)
2008 - 100th (20.2 ppg) - 95th (318.5 ypg)
so, yes, in 2 of his 3 years, he actually made them worse.
after that he was OC at Oregon from 2009 - 2012, but Chip Kelly, who had already been there for 2 years, called the plays
then he was HC at Oregon from 2013 - 2016, but Scott Frost called the plays from 2013 - 2015 and Scott Lubbick called them this year
oh and he cant recruit. as the primary he has signed 1 four star. ever. it was a QB who was at Oregon for one year, then Southeastern La, then Wagner.
thats the highest rated recruit he ever pulled. it was 6 years ago.
the second highest was a 3 star, number 424 overall. that was 7 years ago
oh and also hes never worked anywhere near the south.

Okay let's pass even though my brother-in-law said he looks like a good coach

I'm sure he's learned from his mistakes ...has he said he's learned? Hopefully he says it and then it's all good and besides that he's worked with a good college coach.
Sounds like a fit.

If we hire Helfrich I will legit melt.
Go get Kendall Briles over Helfrich. At least he's from Texas and has ties for recruiting.

Ok! I was leaning toward him until these stats. He can stay where he's at.

Same. For me, his offenses passed the eye test but now I am backtracking. He should only be a SUPER fallback option especially if OCs like Briles, Kiffin, Riley, Sterling are available.

I linked in the other thread that he called plays as passing game coordinator at ASU. They also ran more of a pro-style under Koetter.
And everyone knows how many problems CU had as a program when he got there and Belotti still tried hiring Helfrich before he hired Chip.

From the horse's mouth as I posted in another thread.
LINK
I'm just not sold that he knows how to control the flow of the game, especially when his plan was shutdown.
It's great to be a an offensive genius before the game, but if don't know how to adjust or all that great scheming doesn't work then it does you know good.
Just because you a great architect doesn't mean you can swing a hammer and put up a stud.

i said it in one of the first threads about helfrich; the only appeal i see is that he may bring that oregon offense.
Aside from that, he has proven nothing as a play caller, game planner, or qb developer.
everyone mentions that he developed/found mariota.... ok, great, dude is an all-world talent.
what about all the other qb's that oregon has failed to develop since, notably roper and lockie who were supposed to be studs in that system.

We should have hired Scott Frost.
Said that like three months ago.

We are LSU.....we don't give a frick what your resume says

pretty sure he recruited Mariotta

Thanks for posting this. Would be a horrible hire imo. Not one person who actually knows football would want him as our OC.

It's so funny when ppl act like he wasn't a big part in several places that had very successful offenses. He would be a very solid hire and knowing he reached out if that's true and if O let's him slip away and lane doesn't come here would be a huge mistake imo. The guy was at Boise asu and Oregon when each school was very very dynamic offensively. At every one of those stops they had some the best offenses in the country but he just stood there and served water per the miserable OP. Here and 247 dude is always on a cliff. I bet he's the one guy no one likes at work who is pessimistic about anything and everything

What part of Chip Kelly called the plays during Oregons success don't you understand. We need a TOP offensive play caller. Not more fired coaches. Already have plenty of those
Posted on 12/7/16 at 9:23 pm to MastrShake
I've been saying it, you do not want that style of offense here

you realize that he started at boise and basically followed around his boise guys, koetter and hawkins? you also fail to mention that he was OC at colorado when they began their rapid decline. Seems to me he just got oc gigs because his buddies were head coaches.
not to mention what every one else has brought up, i.e. chip kelly was the mastermind at oregon.
