Talked to big time Vol fans yesterday. They absolutely think that Gruden is their new coach. Risky hire for a guy who has not coached in a long time and and not much college at all. He does not strike me as a grind it out recruiter.

There are nine guys on that list that would be great hires and none of them are named Gruden.

I feel like UT is being distracted by a name. The guy hasn’t coached in years, hasn’t coached in college much longer than that, and his offense isn’t exactly en vogue in college football currently. But they think it’s great to throw Saban level money at him?

High School athletes absolutely HATE names. I mean, playing for the guy they watch giving input and scouting reports annually on people making it to where they hope to be? PSH, frick that!

A name means a ton to impressionable kids. A competent person can do a lot with talent as well.

The money line is moving that way because so many delusional Vols are betting that Gruden would walk away from $10 million+ a year in a stress-free environment just so he could have that dream job righting the train wreck in Knoxville where fans have the most realistic expectations.

What are the odds for the field?

The kid who can recruit TN better than all of them isn't on the list.

No doubt, if there's one thing betting sites hate, it's free money.

Gruden will do a great job attracting those 35 year old recruits who remember him coaching the Bucs to a Super bowl.

Well hey hope it works out for you, I’m sure they’ll choose UT over other successful programs because you hired the MNF color analyst

It's happening. What's even better is the gumps will be triggered AF.

I for one would like UT to make a great hire. It's no fun to beat a bad Tennessee team 11 straight years. It will be more fun to beat them when they are at least good

He's a terrible head coach.

he built the raiders team he beat in the Sb with the bucs. he has a winning record in the NFL, .541 win % which is not easy to attain. you proved you actually know nothing about actual coaching and what is required. bend over and kiss his ring.

Better question: How many high school teams run the WCO?
